Which books do you recommend on the subject? special for beginners out of the WT asylum like me?

I think a brief history of time is a nice little simple book that gives a general overview of the history of science in this direction and allows for some thought provoking reading while not ever being too technical or difficult

cyberjesus: What aspect of QM are you interested in? (computing, solid state, foundational, encryption, ..)

a general overview explained in a simple manner. I wanna come up with a list to share with regular people. I think since most xJWs are interested in life and its origins reading this kind of material should be appealing to them if its put in a simple way.

Besides other specific books, there is a general dictionary of quantum terms, scientists, and such subjects by John Gribbin titled "Q is for Quantum", subtitled "An Encyclopedia of Particle Physics".
It is published by Simon & Shuster, 1998.
I would also suggest two books by Anthony Zee - "Fearful Symmetry" and "An Old Man's Toy". First one on particle physics and group theory, second one on gravitational theory.
I really like this subject and have probably a couple dozen such books.
Note that the ones I have are really about fundamental physics and cosmology and not about biological implications like evolution or the origin of life.

Not offhand, but when you understand Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, you might believe as I do, that it proves the idea of a personal God is false, yes, impossible.

I haven't read any books dedicated to the subject in 20 years. Paul Davies if I recall. I've read some of Hawkings' stuff since then, but I wouldn't describe it as a book on quantum physics. I don't read as many books as I used to. Internet.

I'd like to know the logical path you took to get from HUP to that.

I heard that on one episode of Keeping Up Appearances, Onslow was reading about quantum physics.
