Thats atleast 10 years..I am dealing with the lil ones and knock knock...I open the door to find a Witness at the door all pretty and smiles..

Told her to hold on one second and made the dog quite down..She started her spill and I was like ..Don't mean to be rude but born and raised a JW

..So first words are ??...Wait all at once...Are you Dfed ?...Nope I just choose not to go..Asked my name a couple times and encouraged me to come to meetings

I have been waiting for years for this chance to rankle a witness...Here it is...what do I do ?...Thats right I felt sorry for her she seemed so happy the day was beautiful

I didn't engage her on anything..I even took the mags to feed the kitchen receptical ..I was hoping that would get her to talk to a brother who would come..So i suppose I should bone up on my arguments for them...

My sister, always has a pat response. She tells them when she was a little girl (7), she was told when her mother died, she was told as a JW that her mom would be be resurrected "Soon." She tells them that was 40 yrs ago. She states it's not right to tell a lie like that to a child. They leave apologizing.

    Plowboy,

I suppose it depends on where you're coming from. If you have doctrinal issues on which you have strong convictions, you could raise those.

If it's more the false prophecies and flip-flops that bother you, you could tell them that the WT has published a number of things in the past that really trouble you. If they ask what, you can ask them if they really want to know. If so, you'll show them. If not, then it would be better that they just leave. If they stay, it makes it a lot harder for them to use the "apostate literature" excuse and walk out on you.

If you're mainly troubled by certain things you experienced, you can tell them about that. The plus side to that is that they can't refute what you tell them. If you were mistreated by elders, for example, there's no way they can prove it didn't happen. The down side is that they can always empathize with you and tell you that you were wronged, that the organization isn't perfect, but that things are different now, it's important not to let a few experiences stumble you in your service to Jehovah, etc.

Welcome to the forum....its not the individual JWs to blame is it...I can identify with how you felt - I always feel sorry for them too and I just suggest that they go and read CofC for their own benefit.

    Welcome Plowboy,

I'm sure it's not the sort of thing you've mentaly prepared for every time you've opened the door in the last 10 year - how could you? Well let us know how you get on. They're sure to come back - any friendly face that takes magazines will definitely be an rv!

Plowboy......welcome to the forum. Seems like my neighborhood gets worked twice a hear. I'm in a different state than my JW days. When they come to the door I don't even mention I used to be a JW, because I DO NOT want any return visits or people here knowing that I use to be a JW. They just get a polite not interested. If I ever get a pushy JW that doesn't take the not interested, I might engage them in a discussion where I bring up some things about JW's.

If I ever get a pushy JW that doesn't take the not interested,

When I tell them I'm Jewish- twice now- the JWs just say 'OK' and leave, no arguments no discussions. JWs just don't rehearse what to say to a Jew, so they have nothing to come back with- they're done.

They're supposed to offer you the Brochure "Will there ever be a world without war?"

Welcome Plowboy! Your reaction shows you have empathy! Something that is not really taught/encouraged by the WTS. If there were more who didn't listen to them then shunning wouldn't be an issue. Good for you.

I wish you all the best.
