    hmm good question....

being born JW ... I always assumed they were only male since only male ones appear in the Bible....

I can see a problem if a person believes people die and go to heaven and become angels but that is as foreign of a concept to me as 77 virgins to a guy who martyrs himself ...(really do you want 77 women going through PMS together.... is that really 'heaven' or a well disguised male 'hell'?)

I always figured that angels wanted to have a family, descendants, to carry on their name like humans do, or form a family ruling group.

Angels and God are pictured as males because they have the authority in the bible unlike females. But in heaven angels and God have spirit bodies without human genitals. In that way they and the 144,000 in heaven must be genderless.

I can see why those angels chose to be male on earth and have authority and own property.

A person is identified as male or female by their sexual organs. Their sexual preference has nothing to do with what sex they are. Such organs are part of the physical reproduction process. The sex urge is natures way of ensuring that we keep on keeping on and produce lots of little worshipers to keep The great spirit in the sky happy.

Now I have never actually met a 'spirit person,' much less an angel, but for such creatures to be male or female they would have to have sexual organs. In which case they they would have to be physical and would not be spirit creatures. This amazing truth, that you will not find in your bible, has been brought to you by Gladiator!

I have the same thought as Blondie. I don't think it really has to do with these angels wanting to experience sexual pleasure at all. It has to do with the ability to reproduce. Angels cannot yet they observed lower forms of life - animals - reproducing. The only other being they knew of who could bring living things into existence was God himself, who also brought them into existence. I can understand why they'd be jealous.

Add to that, because of the rebellion in Eden Satan and all the angels who sided with him received a death sentence with no hope of a resurrection. Yet, Adam and Eve sinned, but although they too received a death sentence they at least were allowed to procreate. In that sense, Adam and Eve would get to live on. In addition, as human society grew man began to rule over one another whereas Satan was punished for trying to rule over humans.

These angels figured out a way to get around all this. Materialize as "super" men, bully the human males, take their women, and create a hybrid race. Maybe take over rulership of the planet? But then God found a way to ruin their plan. By bringing the flood, the only way these offspring could survive was to dematerialize again. So essentially God killed the women and the hybrid children, but not these angels. However these angels weren't able to bring any women back with them.

I don't think being male or female requires genitals. And how do any of us know the Bible angels don't have genitals? Nobody ever pulled up their angel dresses and looked and reported, now did he or she? Those male angels might have had enormous equipment for all we know. But angel equipment wouldn't work with human equipment, you know, size and the spirit "finer stuff" it's made from. Women tend to like the real thing better than some ethereal, vapor thing. Thus the need to make smaller, firmer real human bodies and equipment.

Hmmm, I don't know. I think maybe they wanted to know what it felt like, TOO. I'm sure it was beautiful and fun to watch and they knew they could have homes and furniture and children, etc. they became materialistic.

So spirit bodies have genitals? Even the bible says that flesh and blood cannot inherit the heavenly kingdom.

As to choosing human bodies, I'm sure the biggest reason they chose male bodies was to have the authority given only to men on earth. As to experiencing sex, I don't think you mean that men experience better sex than women.

Jesus said that in the resurrection, there is neither male nor female. Spirit creatures are a perfect balance of the male and female energy. But once again none of this makes sense without looking at it from a metaphysical standpoint. Jesus was able to do what he did because he had a wife.... Mary Magdalene. Try plugging in only one prong on your electrical appliances and see what happens.... nothing!

Google "Violet Flame" (Alchemy) if you want to know more.....

....or the origins of the Cross.....

Blondie, I am kidding. I didn't say flesh and blood genitals. I meant spiritual ones. They portray angels with faces, shoulders, arms, legs, hands and feet, why not genitalia? But this is tongue and cheek.

I have read books based on the Bible that say that when earthlings go to heaven they will be able to eat and do all the things we do here. Based on scripture including what Jesus could do when he was resurrected. A lot of scholars think earthlings will someday get to have bodies again and have the same experiences that Jesus did as a spirit/human.
