Now why would the WT not ask former elders the 3rd question?

I was not an elder, so I am not sure . . .

but, it looks like these three questions are just asked of new elders. It doesn't say that these questions are asked of exisitng elders. Isn't it that once a man is appointed to elder, he's an elder for life unless he/his family does something to question whether or not he should continue his post? So, I'm thinking that these questions would not be asked of an existing elder as there isn't a periodic reaffirmation of the elder post. Can someone confirm or deny my thoughts?

What happens when an elder is thought to have committed pedophilia or a sexual assualt and self admits to the others?. It says that Bethel is to be called. Then what happens? I am thinking that this is where the "elder" book drops off and another whole set of books/policies/procedures/forms would come into play to determine IF the elders were under a state law obligation to disclose it to the police or IF the elders were under an obligation to treat it like a confession.

I don't think the WT would have a former victim or whistle blower as an elder. I don't 'know' this and can't prove it, its just a hunch on my part. My reasoning is that a victim would be more sensitive to the needs of another victim. Then there's the thing that many perpetrators are former victims. I AM NOT saying that ALL victims would become perpetrators.

I don't think they'd want whistle blowers as they could be a liability, legal or otherwise; they could never be trusted.

If there are any current or former elders here who were victims or whistle blowers, I think they would have an interesting perspective.
