that we are living REAL close to the end of this system so says the latest Awake ragazine.

There's buzz in the congregation that when "WORLDLY PEOPLE" say it, you KNOW they're ready to turn on religion!!!!

....and the beat goes on...

These attitudes show that JWs live such a pathetic life. They will believe anything that the Organization says with the expectation that the End is just about here. The fact is that from the beginning of time, people have felt that colossal change had to occur in their lifetime! And millenialists live their lives believing The End will happen "shortly".

This cult takes away the opportunity for a real quality life.....and it's all for nothing. Very sad.

I have noticed that, too, minimus. But since I don't believe for one milisecond that we are actually near the end of the system and since I always tell my WT friends and family that the world just keeps getting better over the long term (temporary but painful economic shit that's happening now notwithstanding) I don't get hassled.

They can say that all they want. But Jesus also saw the need to get rid of religion, and did something about it. In fact, he paid for the attempt to rid the world of religion with his life. The first Christians, at first, also saw the need to get rid of religion (until Paul reinstated Jesus' message as another religion). Nothing happened then, aside the local destruction in 70 AD.

And now, people are seeing for themselves what religion does to people. Europe used to be deeply Christian, and there was lots of fighting there. Then a more secular atmosphere developed there, and Europe has been in relative peace during this period. Meanwhile, Islam has a stranglehold on the Middle East--you see wars going on there all the time. And, to the extent that Islam is infiltrating Europe (Yugoslavia in 1998, anyone?), it is creating wars there.

To top it off, religion closes people's minds to the truth. If people believe there is no God or have contempt for God, they are more likely to look to other sources for objective information. Those who love God, Jehovah, or Allah will look no further--and if the Bible or Quran lies, they are going to be stuck with those lies. Look at what happened during the First Dark Ages--Christianity trumped common sense and science then. Islam is just as capable of closing people's minds--look at what happened to the progress in the Middle East coming to a screeching halt at the time Islam took full control of that region.

Instead of JWs looking at history, they would rather hold hands and "wait" for Jehovah God to finally execute everyone, all 99.9 % of the world.

I agree religion is very damaging. But I definitly don't think things are
better into days world ...I believe the fact that very few folks have LOVE
& are so concerned with self. I was in the war.( England) the love that was
shown to ALL & SUNDRY no matter what color ,No one asked RELIGION?
My grandson is in Jail.I went to visit the other day,I cannot believe how
we all sat there waiting to visit ,a young Mum came in with a 2 week old babe
& a 7 yr old girl.she dropped the babies bottle (glass) it smashed EVERYone!!!
just looked & looked away ( about 60 people ,all colors) I got up to pick up
the glass & comfort the poor soul ,to see if the babe had another bottle ( she did)
I couldn't believe all these younger than I (MUCH) ,didnt care.
Sorry I believe the world is going to hell in a handbag.
