I hadn't considered that point of view Outlaw, you make a good point. But what about simple navigational information?

You just have to know what to look for..
My point exactly.

And that, my friend, is why someone who has been on this board for 19 months can express astonishment learning something that's been around for 35 years.

Many probably don't know the story of the Brothers dressing up in white robes waiting to be taken on the Brooklyn Bridge.
How sad they looked when nothing happened and they walked back in those Wonderful Robes......Jackasses!!!!
My fact about the Bridge might be off....... it has been years. I don't read ANYTHING about JW history anymore it's all the stuff in my Demented Brain I can't delete!

Finally, I do not see the fiasco of 1975 as a theological subject at all. I see it as a key issue of credibility that goes to the much larger question of the legitimacy of a Society and what it claims to be.
Except...1975 is part of their eschatology, and eschatology = theology. And it's the flawed eschatology that makes them lack credibility. So it's all directly related; you can't separate it from theology. So if someone has the position that they don't want to talk about theology, then it makes sense that 1975 is a conversation that won't be of interest to them, because 1975 = eschatology = theology. I'm not saying people should feel that way, but it still makes sense to me.
The fact that 1975 has become a non-issue to so many, and that so many aren't even aware that it happened, is mute testimony to the efficiency with which the WTBTS has been able to sweep it, and other facts that reflect badly upon it, under the carpet.
While I see your point, I'm not sure that you can use a few examples to make that extrapolation. I think what you're saying is that some people openly acknowledging that they're unaware of eschatological failures, combined with many people apparently choosing to not participate in those discussions when they come up, means people are generally unaware of the 1975 issue. I don't think it can be taken to that. Silence doesn't mean a lack of understanding; it usually just means a lack of interest. So I don't think we can really assume that the number of people unaware of 1975 is so significant that it says something about the board.
Also, bear in mind that many people get sick of discussing the same issues over and over again. This is common on every ex-JW board I've seen -- some issues simply become dead horses. So threads on 1975 that appear to be less active than they "should" be could instead be ones that people look at and then choose to skip because they don't feel like they have anything else to contribute or share. Again, I'm not sure we can say that silence means blindness.
