All reports say that Baby Kim is equally a nutjob, and a drunk one at that.

Hmmm... maybe it's all them prayers being sent his way...

What is the US saying about China's silence? Nothing. China owns us, lock, stock, and barrel.

Ain't the guv'ment's fault, though, is it? Well, I mean, the part that's not "the people." 'Cause it really is the people's fault. Was when Japan was our "friend" (and everything "we" owned said "Made in Japan")... then Mexico was our "friend" (and everything "we" owned said "Made in Mexico" - but they're not our friends any longer and so need to stop bringing their butts over here)... then Taiwan... Hong Kong... and now China. I marvel that "we" think India isn't going to be "our" enemy one day. They will be, though, as soon as we find another country will to do our work and make our products for even less (did I hear someone say Chile/Peru?).

Track records, children... follow the track records...

Ah, well... peace to you all anyway. The kind my Lord gives, I mean. Not the "kind" the world's always talking about but can never seem to accomplish...

    A slave of Christ,

SA, who is SO glad not to have to "learn" war... and OF wars... any more!

On a serious note, I don't see a good way out of this. A weak response encourages them, a strong response could start a war. Another Korean was would set the S Koreans back sixty years.

There isn't much we can do, which is why North Korea gets away with murder. North Korea would inflict grievous damage on South Korea before being halted. South Korea is one of the greatest, most advanced nations on the planet. But North Korea is the most militarized nation on the planet.

That is why we haven't done anything.

Seoul, which I hear is a beautiful city, could get leveled in a matter of hours. At 35 miles from the border, it is within artillery range of North Korean guns north of the border. A lot of artillery, however, would have to move closer to the border and expose itself.

They've got missiles, of course, and possibly tunnels running up to a kilometer behind the DMZ.

This thread gets down to the brass tacks.

    It's ok leaving,

I just did not read that part,

I guess I rather hear it from him.

Probably about 15 years ago, the JW lady I studied with

said she thought North Korea was the King of the North in the bible,

    anyone else ever heard this?

The last time we studied the Daniel book, people were saying off the record that they believed it was China. Not that long afterwards, 9/11 happened. So I haven't heard much talk lately. So I'm wondering now how China will play her cards. In upcoming weeks we'll hear JWs making remarks off the record again. My Circuit Assembly is coming up, and I'm wondering if any of the speakers may deviate from their outlines just a tad and slip up.

This is serious. With Seoul (New York-ish sized city) sitting so close, I sure hope cooler heads prevail. China needs to tell N Korea to back off.

Here is what the conspiracy folks are saying:

Congressman Ron Paul speculated on the Alex Jones Show today that the war footing between North and South Korea could be an orchestrated crisis to boost the dollar and reverse the US economy, paralleling the RAND Corporation’s call two years ago for the United States to become embroiled in a major war as a means of preventing a double dip recession.
