Do tyrants ever get overthrown by their subjects?

It seems to me, not very often. An external rescuer seems to be the catalyst for overthrowing a tyrannical government or dictator. The slaves of Haiti were able to become free on their own, but the slaves in other countries didn't rise up successfully and obtain their freedom under their own power. Hitler and his facist cohorts were defeated in war, not by it's cowed citizens.

Had it not been for constant Western external pressure against Russian Communism, it's subjugated citizens would likely still be ruled by a totalitarian government. History leads me to believe that JWs will be unable to throw off their WT overlords on their own. It's rather silly, as no one is keeping them from walking out of the KH. Apparently, they are mental hostages who just can't see the big EXIT sign and leave the building.

Fear of shunning, i.e, the social death sentence, is the power that keeps JWs imprisoned. The GB wants to employ extreme shunning against ex-JW family again, which tells me they are losing too many JWs through communication with their ex-JW relatives.

The Internet is the only real external enemy that the WT has to deal with and they will have the plug pulled on all WT expose' sites that give them a legal opportunity to do so.

The WT convinces JWs that outside the organization there is only evil.

Even if they want to leave, they're afraid to go.

    Good mornin' Moshe,

The internet is truly a double edge sword for them. Most corporations can't do business with out the internet

and yet this same tool that has become so vital for most to survive, is gonna be the down fall of this Organization.

It may not fall all at once, but the net is killin' it

Any body can go on line and disect their literature and i mean literally make a game out of it in doing so.

Good morning to you, too WB

From what I observed on Thursday, the Internet isn't hurting the Hispanic and Creole/French speaking JW membership , yet. They have 3 foreign language KH's and 2 English meeting in one KH- they added one new Spanish Cong this year already. I wouldn't be surprised, if in a couple years they consolidate 2 into 1 English speaking KH's (due to membership declines) in order to make room for another Hispanic Cong in that building. You would think that act alone would raise some questions. They already consolidated 3 into 2.

What I have noticed about 99.9% of us Ex-JWs (me included), is when we find out the truth about the troof, we just do an exit stage right and leave the KH- no fuss, no yelling, no "damned you lying GB" scene. Even when they do complain it's usually in a closed door meeting with the elders and the publishers never hear the commotion. As far as the publishers are concerned, the apostate ones who leave or got kicked out deserved what they got. We have elders on board who are still keeping a tight lip about what they know and I expect when they leave the KH, they will do so quietly-fading into the night. By the time they do come to their senses and begin to tell others about the WT, they have been completely discredited by the elders and no JW will listen to them.

    Hey Moshe,

when I read the title of your post, I see a double meaning in the question. I was reading the Sept 15, 2010 study edition this morning on line

and under the subject "seeking Holy Spirit" on page 10 paragraph 13 it tells that we should ask for holy spirit,

paragrapgh 14 states:" that powerful spirit equipped modern day servants of God to care for the needs of the organization when it became necessary to begin their own printing operations."

on page 11 paragraph 15 it tells this is the same spirit that raised Jesus up from the dead,

under the subheading of " Gifts in Men...." on page 18 paragraph 9 tells that todays congregation elders have these "gifts in men".

On page 136 in the Reasoning Book it states: " Jehovah Witnesses do not claim to be inspired prophets,....."

My question to anyone who will answer is : If they claim to have these "gifts in men" how come they're not inspired? aren't these gifts provided by the holy spirit ?

you see Moshe the subjects in their own literature is over throwin' them.

The Spanish think the JWs are an improvement over their Catholic upbringing, same with overt superstitious groups. Seeing first hand how families are seperated with shunning policies are causing some Hispanic families to question the religion for the first time. I met a young Hispanic man in a NA meeting, he was DF'd for drug use and the family cut him off. His new 'family'at the NA meetings were the only one's truly helping him. The Aha moment was clear in his mind.
