The last meeting I attended was two years ago. I had gone to the KH that evening with my parents who came to town for a visit to try and encourage me. I had a No.4 talk to give and when I got to the hall I told the school overseer I would not be giving my talk. He asked why and I said dont worry why. I then walked around telling everyone in the congregation that it was my last meeting. During the meeting my dad gave some stupid ass comment about having been in the "truth" 35 years and when you feel like you cant go on anymore you just need to put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward. When he gave that comment it confirmed I would never be going back. At the time I was 34 years old having been born into the "truth", I said to myself there is no god damn way I am wasting 34 more years in this fucking crapola with hateful people who talk shit "behind my back including family. After my dads comment I got up and left the KH in the middle of the meeting. The attendant said "are you leaving early?" I said back to him and laughed as I said it "I am leaving permanantly, this is my last meeting call me apostate because anyone teaching people a lie about living forever should be ashamed of themselves". He looked at me with his mouth wide like he had just looked into the eyes of Satan. My wife stopped going the moment I did and we saved our two children from a life of heartache. There was no way I was going to let my children be brainwashed to the point of possibly someday me being disfellowshipped and they shun me. HELL NO.

Once it hits you that it's all BS you can't help but run for your life. Great to hear that you and your family are out and your kids will grow up normal. You pretty much saved your kids lives by leaving, I wish my parents did the same when I was little, I wasted 30 years in this shitty religion. AWESOME to be out of it and see it for what it is.

Not many JWs do that, especially with family in the same KH. It sure beats wearing that doormat label for years. Well done- enjoyed the story.
