to do with xmas, as i despise that frenzy and furor
artificially driven by commercialism .... just dont get
me started on solstice.....

Yeah, that part sucks..I agree...typical JW mindset - if they get a gift during the Christmas season, it's ok to take it yada yada, it's a year-end bonus so not really Christmas - you know all that rationalizing that takes place when they are in a position to GET something - never think of giving, though, do they?
Anyhow, I couldn't help thinking the poor buggers probably didn't have anywhere else to go - I mean on Christmas day, their 'brothers' aren't doing anything exciting, are they? Possibly service, but that is really in extreme poor taste and from what I am seeing, getting less popular by the year (a good thing!). So, I guess they figured, go see the 'weak' relatives and encourage them? ha ha !
I think there's hope your relatives are on their way out - and from other stories on this board, at least when some leave the JW fold, they finally learn the SPIRIT of Jesus' words and start GIVING...here's hoping...you know the dubs keep talking about worshiping in SPIRIT and in truth - they harp on the Truth part but you never hear them talking about the SPIRIT part - they need to learn the SPIRIT OF GIVING. Anyhow I just loved the fact that you enjoyed yourselves so much and they were none the wiser! Good on ya!
I'm still rather stunned that nobody showed up here. I'm disappointed in them, in a way. Don't they care about the cleanliness of their congregation? Don't they worry that by my family's remaining technically IN, that the flow of lowercase holy spirit is stifled?
What a bunch of slackers!
Edit: Now that I think about it, a JW couple DID stop by about a week before Christmas (we didn't answer the door). Wonder if they were spying, after all.
