Hadn't thought of that ... a one way hash of the IP would allow everyone to compare them while keeping them hidden.
The only problem I can see is when requests come through proxies or dialup accounts re-use IP addresses and there would end up being some false accusations which could be dangerous.

yes, and that kind of thing would happen to. usually a comparison of dates tho would easily reveal if the IP has from a pool of IPs belonging to a dynamic connection that several users shared as opposed to a static one. likely exactly what u do with the log files to determine multiple identities.
