So sorry for your situation and, as many have noted, it never truly goes away. Not as long as you have family in.
I have learned to make new friends, find other interests, more school, etc. If the JWs know it hurts or bothers you, they will keep trying to get you back. Don't let them. It is not worth it. Also as noted above: it's a cult.
It comes and goes for me too. We have joined some groups through meetup, reached out to other people, and I am looking for a place to volunteer. Making new connections (and maybe friends) has helped me greatly. I do think that as time goes on the family hurt will go away mostly. It doesn't seem to affect NLW anymore but he's a guy and already had a messed up family so maybe thats why.
