Perhaps I am expecting too much from some people to expect them to know that there are such things as copyright and plagarism. . . . . naaaaaaw They are just doing what they want thinking they are doing something good...... naaaa they just want to do what they want to do without even the courtesy of asking.

:I just discovered that somebody named david_aaron_phillips took something I wrote along with over 500 pages of things other people wrote, put it altogether into one huge document and posted it on the web. Some autheors have their names attached. Randy Watters, AlanF, Gary Busselman, Steven Hassan, Hilary_Step, Terry Walstrom, Sam Herd, Juliann Velasquez, Diane Wilson, Jerry Bergman, David Reed, and others who have posted here, on the old H2O board as well as info from Freeminds the old Watchtower Observer site and others.

It happens to me all the time, too.

I cannot count all the times I've run into my purloined stuff while searching for something. Often times it is attributed to me. At other times, it isn't. But almost always it is purloined without my permission. It really galls me when such latter sites get comments from people raving about a topic I wrote about. It must be a perversion for an intellectual thief to get credit for doing nothing more than stealing someone else's work and talent and effort.

I have only one word for that: L - O - S - E - R !!

I'm sorry to hear that your copyrights have been infringed upon.

Yes, I agree with other posters that there needs to be a clear statement on this forum about the reproduction of copyrighted and third party material. And if anyone reads the Posting Guidelines right below the Post a Reply box used to write posts, there are such guidelines.

5. Breaking the law
This includes libel, condoning illegal activity and contempt of court (comments which might affect the outcome of an approaching court case). You may post a small amount of third party material, but please help us to avoid breaching copyright by naming its author and publication. We are unable to investigate all third party material, so where possible, please provide a link instead.

Perhaps providing a link to the original material may have been preferable...?

Yes LL, it's terrible that people steal the ideas of others, but what is worse is for politicians to pass off other men's ideas ( paid for) as their own. That's how we end up with a president that can't give a speech without a telepromter and then we find out later that he is not what we thought he was.

Well that was quicker than I thought. They have removed the file.

You know if I had been asked if the article could be included I would have said yes as long as my name was attached to it. I wrote it. I have the right to claim that ownership. But he didn't ask. He just went ahead and did it.

Now someone last night sent me to a website http://www.neilstoolbox.com/plagiarism-tester You take a paragraph of something you wrote and put it in the text box. It hunts down anywhere on the internet where that quote is. I actually found a few more of my posts from here posted on other websites with --- you guessed it... no credit given. Not even Lady Lee or the web address where they got it from.

This is shoddy research and is a discredit to those who do it.
