Latest Pew Research reveals that 18-29 year olds now use the Internet as their primary source of news. Interesting correlation between education and primary news source as well.

    http://people-press.org/report/689/

The national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted Dec. 1-5, 2010 among 1,500 adults reached on cell phones and landlines, finds that more people continue to cite the internet than newspapers as their main source of news, reflecting both the growth of the internet, and the gradual decline in newspaper readership (from 34% in 2007 to 31% now). The proportion citing radio as their main source of national and international news has remained relatively stable in recent years; currently, 16% say it is their main source.

An analysis of how different generations are getting their news suggests that these trends are likely to continue. In 2010, for the first time, the internet has surpassed television as the main source of national and international news for people younger than 30. Since 2007, the number of 18 to 29 year olds citing the internet as their main source has nearly doubled, from 34% to 65%. Over this period, the number of young people citing television as their main news source has dropped from 68% to 52%.

Thanks for that besty. I really am not surprised by that. I guess most youngsters when they log on to the internet go to the home page first, and that is where the links to the news can be found. I have retired now and still use the TV for news although I certainly use the internet as well

The demographic would be ages 18-29 in the world. I'd guess the number of people using the internet like that within the Org is quite different.

Gerard You are right but I would say it won't be long before they catch us up or at least get more reliable and widespread internet access.

Mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) will set the WTS another challenge - currently their advice for controlling the Internet in a family setting is to locate the PC (??? what is a PC??? are people even buying deskbound devices) in a public family room...

The countries where they are currently growing are skipping the fixed telco infrastructure we in the West developed over many decades and going straight to wireless

The uptake of mobile devices is huge in these countries...

come on GB 2.0 - lets see a high control article about how to monitor your wife/husband/child on their mobile device :-)))

sux to be a disintermediated high control group when knowledge wants to be free
