Look those of us who have been here a while know how someone can spend a lot of time here,
gain trust and then be found out to be a liar and conman.

Some people are willing to do what ever it takes,to Con people on JWN..
If that means they work years to gain your trust..So be it..

well at least we admit it. Theremay be bad people on this site. We don't hide it and say we are great trust us! God is with us and no one else! It's a good place to con people. I didn't write personal things until I didn't care if the GB read it.
Violia: That might help a little, making it a little harder to just go straight to the private area.
I don't like the idea of a little clique forming where only some are invited and others not.
If people want that kind of forum they can always start their own elsewhere.
JWN isn't FaceBook and it shouldn't become one.
I'd rather see a chat implemented where the
live help (not available) feature appears at the top right of this page.
A realtime chat would be a nice feature to add, people could use it for
getting help, counselling, or just venting. The chat wouldn't be archived
unless you cut and pasted to a text editor, that is the forum software
wouldn't keep track of the chat discussion, it would only be for realtime,
live, in the moment.

While there are many good ideas they all either boil down to delaying when someone gets access based on an arbitrary time period or number of posts which would be easy to circumvent OR would stop people that should have access from getting it (like besty who said he lurked for a year).
I've planned on eventually having the PM system use the same engine as the regular forum so instead of having sent and received messages you'd see them as a topic with each person replying - effectively a topic with only 2 people taking part and only visible to those two people. This could be extended to allow pople to invite others - maybe access being granted only if all those already in it agreed. In this way, ad-hoc groups could start for private discussions.
However, this is likely going to be a little way off.
We've had chat and it is next to impossible to moderate and it definitely needed to be moderated. It proved to be a major headache and had to finally be discontinued

and seemed to work good! but then i wasn't there all the time!
as far as jws...and their requirements to post in the private...
nothing is private there, even if u post something on another private webiste!
worse than the borg or big brother!
what about a questionaire with 100 facts about the JW religion. questions that the user must research and answer correctly 100%. these facts will make the user at least research and think.

I think that at the end of the quiz the user will for sure become a member of this board.
Once i realized that all it took to read all my posts was a username and an email addy i stopped posting certain information...

Well there was chat on here long before Gabbly came along. I know we had it because there is a thread that I posted on the discussion that was going on during the Dateline show on the sexual abuse scandal in the WTS in May 29, 2002.
