"Rick, I just wish you would take the advice of the likes of Ray Franz and Barbara Anderson." ...blah, blah, blah
Why? You know, for all of you who have "suggestions", what have YOU done exactly to make a difference? Other than giving time consuming suggestions and insulting the work that has been done? And for that matter, what have you done for non-profit; meaning, on your own time and dime?...
I think Rick is trying to do something different and whether YOU like it or not, it's working.
If you have suggestions, make your own damn conference call.
All of you may as well still be Jehovah's Witnesses, beating the ones trying to make a difference and treating them like "apostates".

Thank you brotherdan for your thoughts, I am working on making the conference call more effective and to the point. I never thought it was going to attract the people that it does. People call in from all over the world. I believe the call can be a major force in helping so many find the exit door at the kingdom hall. It will improve as time moves forward.

It still looks hokey (sorry Rick).
You need it to look less like a scandal-mongering website... it needs to look more objective!

Rick, I hope I didn't sound like I was criticizing you! I just thought those suggestions might help. I had no intention to come across in the way that I must have to Starlight111.
I appreciate all that you do and I think you are doing more than 90% of other exJWs. I really do appreciate your efforts. This whole "Johnny" business kinda threw a wrench in the works, but I agree that you have helped MANY people. Your site was one of the first that I went to when I was first questioning the WT. So I am very grateful for what you do/have done.

Welcome starlight!
I understand your frustration so let me elaborate on my position:
As we all know the Witnesses harbor a lot of hate towards exmembers... that hate is what continues to destroy families and relationships because the Witnesses believe ex-witnesses are hateful and will take any opportunity, whether ethical or not, to smear the Witness faith.
Most Witnesses are good caring people; they joined the Watchtower because they believed it was the best chance to save themselves, their family and the lives of others... a noble deed! Most Witnesses are completely unaware of the manipulation at the top. Some because they ignore warning signs... some don't know because they put the Watchtower and it's leaders on a high pedestal.
If an EX-JW wants to make a difference I suggest that they take the Vulcan Approach. Come at them with a calm and cool disposition with facts and commentary on those facts.
The Six Screens takes a different approach; one I don't really agree with, one more based on the more "colorful" facts. I think the creator of Six Screens prefers scandal type information because he feels it hits harder than other approaches. This is true if you can 100% substantiate the scandal to the point where they become defenseless.
There is a huge error in this line of reasoning:
1. The Watchtower has loads of money set aside to settle legal issues. Without the time, resources and cash to take on the Watchtower there is no use to attack them with scandal with the intention to "bring them down." Without equal or more capital to the Watchtower one can only "chip away" at them with acusation and the Watchtower are experts at filling in those chips, they know how to take a punch.
2. Scandalous facts about the Watchtower are more trouble than they are worth (IMO). These kinds of facts never can be completely proven and require a leap of anti-faith to accept them. People who don't mind taking anti-leaps of faith have the personality types to "prove the Witnesses correct" in their accusations against the EX-JW community. The more scandalous the facts they are presented the more chance they have at becoming highly disgruntled and emotional. Once in this state they do indeed prove the Watchtower right because they have taken the same position as the Watchtower as the Defender of an Idea not provable by any natural means... therefore speculations must play a part... speculation is not a good line of communication.
www.jwfacts.com is a great example of a well thought out website. I would be willing to bet that Paul (creator of JWFacts) knows the phenomenon I am speaking about in this post.

The problem with Johnny is all of this should have been kept under wraps until something could be confirmed. At this point it's highly plausible that this could be a fraud or a man in Bethel that has lost his marbles. This has become a shit storm and it is managed poorly; if I was calling the shots I would keep in touch with Johnny privately (after the first conference call) until his identity could be established... while documenting the whole thing.
