Notice the word PROPHET is carrying quotation marks.

This is a signal that they intend to nuance the usually understood common meaning of the word. It is a point of finesse.

Wiggle room. Elasticity of interpretation. Plausible deniability. Standard Operating Procedure.

He had a “prophet” to warn them.

I could probably make a prophesy about who is going to win the Superbowl next Monday, and have a good chance of it coming true.

That would not, of course, mean that it came from God.

Well, IF they prophesied that "false prophets" would come and lead people astray that came true, but that was a self-fullfilling prophecy so I don't know if that counts.

    LMAO

James 3:11 (New International Version, ©2010)

11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?

Matthew 5:13 (New International Version, ©2010)

    Salt and Light

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

Matthew 12:33-34 (New International Version, ©2010)

33 “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

    Blessings in Christ,

The only prophecies that I know of that came true are the series of conventions way back in the early 1900's, that were foreshadowed by the seven bowls of Revelation.

According to them - The Trumpet calls of Revelation which were a series of conventions in the 1920s. Jesus' return in 1914 and inspection. The FDS which was a parable turned into a prophecy. The ousting of Satan from heaven. The immediate transportation of anointed upon death to heaven. we are now living in the times of the end (with all its associated signs such as food shortages, earthquakes and war), the finanlized sealing of the anointed in 1935 (and then not), the great crowd/other sheep commencing around 1935, the falling of Babylon the Great in 1919, the good news has been preached in all the inhabited earth (some wtbs acticles say this has been fulfilled whilst others say it is still being fulfilled) and all the nations have been gathered for the war at Armageddon.

No wonder 1914 is such an important year as all these prophecies have come true from then onwards.

@ Leolaia, can you tell us which publication and date that article came from?

    Thanks!

    Not one.

Now, whether they claim to be a prophet or not, they do claim to be God's Channel of Communication on Earth, His Earthly Organization, many many times they have made that claim.

Do you not think that if God were speaking through them, they would at least get one thing right ?????

LOL Leaving. And worse than that, they said that if anyone read their Bible they would leave "The Truth".

3 years of reading the Bible would do it.

    Isn't that a trick question?

They have to be prophets to lead the church/kingdom/people and reveal new light.

    Amos 3:7
Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

If they did have prophecies come true then they (c)would be prophets. However, if they were prophets then they would be under condemnation for teaching things beyond the explicit words of God(like a set number of hours to preach or doctrines that have flipped and thus must partially be from man).

    Jeremiah 14:15
Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
    Jeremiah 28:15
¶Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The Lord hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.

If they are prophets then miracles have not ceased.

    1 Corinthians 12:10
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues

If they aren't prophets then they have no right to do anything more than read from the bible, they certainly shouldn't be interpreting.

Oh what a pickle - either admit they have no right to reveal anything or admit that in claiming the right they claim the punishment for all the' mis-speaking'
