    Welcome,

why jump back into the fire and risk gettin' burned, when you can learn a language online

    http://www.word2word.com/course.html#cree

that's just an example, you would want to find something online that suits you better

but there is really no need to jump back in unless you really want to regaurdless of what we say

    oh well, carry on then

roving mic handling is pretty unique to The WTS, not a skill I think has too much need in the secular world though,

never knew there were Swahili speakers in Phili, unless your a language genius attending sporadic JW meetings and once only events is a staggeringly slow way to learn a new language

Let's just say I'll be rejoining the organization for about a year so I can develop a skill that isn't available to me in the secular world.

You're going to be a door-to-door salesman? Good luck with that...

    Seriously though, welcome to JWN

Are you just going to join so you can go to the foreign language group once in a while? Or are you truly going to join, go in service, comment, give talks?

I'm not going to waste my breath beyond saying that if there is a language-group large enough for a convention, then they must recruit within that language group. In Chicago, there is a Romanian congregation because there are Romanian speaking people in the area.
My point is that you don't need the lies of the religion to meet with and converse with these people of that language. It's an awful lot of BS to put up with. Good luck, though. Keep us informed on how it went, especially if they JW's decide to kick you out by disfellowshipping after all these years.

    Welcome Philly!

I second the opinions of others advising you to stay away. To me what you are trying to do is akin to jumping into quick sand so you can better understand the properties of sillica based products.

Be very careful, the methods of hooking you in and controlling you are the same irrespective of the language used - they are based on human psycology and we are all hardwired the same under the hood.

Be sure to stay on the board and let us know how it goes. Good luck!

    -Yan
