david, if you were in minnesota, i'd tell ya to get in line to have a tattoo done at Electricdragonland. they are the best around here.
I got my navel pierced and there was a sharp pain for about 2 seconds. It didn't hurt much after that, I had to be careful keeping it clean, but other than that...I love it! I've had it for almost 9 years now.
My tattoo is very small...only about 3" by 3". It took about 15 - 20 minutes to do it. (It's full color.) It hurt like a bunches of bee stings, but I think it hurt extra since it's on my tailbone. I love it too!
I have no regrets with either one of them. But tattoos are definitely addictive. I've wanted to get more done, but can't afford it right now.

PS: Can someone explain what a "vertical hood" piercing is? Or do I want to know??? *cringing*

anne, thanks for the info. i heal up pretty fast and can take a bit of pain. looks like i'll be taking a trip to my favorite piercing place, St. Sabrina's Parlour in Purgatory (hehe, i love the name of this place!) i know from experience the actual piercing itself does not hurt much more then a couple of seconds so that doesn't scare me. i was just worried about the after effects hehe

No piercing's or tatoo's here, but my daughter has tongue pierced, and two tatoo's one is a dolphine (top part of her back) and the other around her bellybutton and a piercing in her bellybutton. I really like them alot, I tell her if she ever has a baby, the doctors will have something to talk about when her belly gets bigger. Tatoo's really fascinate me I like to look at them. My son has a Scottish Lion on his arm I really like that one to.
I have got a tatt..cute little butterfly..* girlie I know..but I was still a JW..hehe*..and I have had belly button pierced for a few years...... and nipple ring.. got to say .. havent been able to bring myself to get a tongue one done..friends play with them too much..distracting .. but mmm they are great on guys.. :)

My brother has a great artist who does his he's in I think Riverside Cal. Rudy something. One of his arms is a snake, his entire arm, but the thing is it's coils go around his arm in a certain way that it's head stops just inside his arm(oppisit of elbo) so when he opens and closes his arm the snake talks.
I've Only prc'd my ears and two tatoos on my sholder that I could live without now, it was more like getting branded by my hubby. a flag w/his name on it , a banner flying a big heart and a bunch of roases.What I do still get a kick out is during the summer on really hot days I wear sleveless dresses I don't think about my tatoos they've been there so long so I don't cover them when I'd go to the KH for the Sunday talk. I forget!!! How wicked they are viewed. U would think just about the whole world would be use to seeing tatoos by now!I remember this one older sister from my old cong. use to wear a bandade on her hand all the time and after several months I finally asked her if that was ever gonna heal! she quietly showed me a tatoo of her husbands initials she keeps hidden under the bandade. I thought that was so weird.
