I'm not going to get into another debate about the different views on salvation - regarding universalism or just the jews, etc... others have spoken to Jewish scholars and they have affirmed that there were different views; not the one view that you tout.
You asked why he didn't rebuke the romans and their armies, instead of rebuking the Jews... I will change my above answer to apply only to that:
Because the Jews were His people, whom He loved. Do you concern yourself with what other people's children are doing more than you concern yourself with what your own children are doing?
