I have zero fingers on my left foot. I only have toes. Am I abnormal?

My bad. In Romanian the word for "fingers" is the same as the one for "toes".

Remember....there is no zero toe!
Adjustments must be made for that fact!

All you are doing is taking the year you were born and adding the number of years you lived (on your 2011 birthday) to come up with the current year, but you are ignoring 1900 of those years to come up with 111 instead of 2011. Add the full year and the number of years you lived and you will always come up with 2011 whether you were born before or after 2000 (or 1900 for that matter).
If an event were 50 years ago, add the year (1961) plus the number of years (50) and you get 2011. It's not rocket science.

OK, this all comes down to these two facts:
1) Add your age to your birth year and you get 2011.
2) There are 111 years between the years 1900 and 2011.
