I don't know why I keep reading this crap. The April 15, 2011 kool-aid edition has an article entitled: Do You Discern the Evidence of God’s Guidance?

The article starts out with how the Isrealites followed the "pillar of cloud and fire" which was evidence of God's guidance until they got to the "Pr omised Land." Likewise the "faithful steward" is there to guide us to the promised new world.

I thought the Bible was the guidebook. Here is one paragraph from the article below. Here's a link to the article: http://www.jw.org/index.html?option=QrYQCsVrGZNT

Similarly in modern times, Jehovah has never left his people without clear guidance. Just as he did not expect the Israelites to scout out their own route, we today are not asked to find the way into the promised new world on our own. Jesus Christ is the assigned Leader of the congregation. (Matt. 23:10; Eph. 5:23) He has delegated some authority to a faithful slave class, made up of faithful spirit-anointed Christians. That slave class, in turn, appoints overseers in the Christian congregation.—Matt. 24:45-47; Titus 1:5-9.

Dang, its like EVERY article now.

The slave class must get a bit distracted and lost when they are guiding his people. I mean, after all of these years (since 33 c.e.) you'd think they would know the direct and correct path to follow. But I guess imperfect men will screw up and not follow the Leader a lot.

    Deja vu!

They keep rehashing the same old stuff.

Are some people just not getting it? Obey, obey, obey!

It seems in the last couple years that the focus is on repeatedly telling JWs that they need to be obedient to the FDS. There is not much mention of following Jesus or the Bible.

That is because if they followed Jesus they would be doing so many things that the WT does not endorse. A few that come to mind:

    1. Feeding and clothing the poor and needy instead of trying to hand them a Watchtower

    2. Forgiving those that sin instead of shunning them in their moment of need. (Not judging others as Jesus said not to do)

    3. Following the golden rule

    4. Partaking at the Memorial which Jesus commanded

I'm sure there are dozens of others. Jesus just isn't important to "the slave" In fact, he gets in the way most of the time.

Lost generation, I've been thinking that the only reason the FDS keeps Jesus around is to compel JWs to preach. I was just speaking with my mom and that was what she said to verify that she, a JW, is a Christian- because she's doing what he said and preaching the good news. You're right, they refuse to truly follow Jesus.

The FDS has pretty much taken Jesus out of the picture. On JW FB sites, they constantly talk about the slave this, the slave that. They never reference the scriptures directly.

Yes, I have noticed that also.

What has happened to cause The Watchtower to emphasize in EVERY issue of the magazine the authority of the FDS and the GB in particular?

VM44: It is the new gb. They want the glory and the honor. They want all of the attention.

Maybe a rename of the WT mags is in order... something like:

"The WATCHTOWER: Announcing the Governing Body over all the Lord's Belongings".
