Just because some of us have managed to put 2 and 2 together, you got to remember back when/if you were a hardcore J-dubb. ANYTHING that even remotely resembled a question or doubt is thought to be.....(gasp) Apostasy!
I'm kind of in the same boat, ranmac, and I've already had some relatives comment about how I seem a tad "cynical" as of late.
I guess I ain't got my mind "right". So i've decided to tone the cynical comments down.
ranmac Unfortunately the closed world of the JWs is designed to be a prison. In the end, intelligent people have to decide which they value the most; their independence or their family. Compromise is difficult - sometimes impossible. Many years ago I escaped, at what I thought was a great cost. Looking back it seems like a bargain.
I wish you well and hope you are able to make the transition from slave to free man.

There was song that was popular when I was a teenager in the sixties. It went something like this;
Freedom isn't free
Freedom isn't free
You have to pay the price
You have to sacrifice
For your liberty.
Only you can decide if you want to pay the price. Most here say it's worth it. For most JWs their love and friendship are conditional. Make some outside friends if you haven't already. You're right though, family division is the worst.

Try posing your comment as a question that makes it their problem too.
Try to make it sincere, and make them want to have an answer.
Don't waste those moments on doctrine. The only one that counts is selection/sole channel.
I'm sorry. It's hard. I'm sure that NLW and I will have more of this road to travel too.

Judgemental family (stuck in a mind-control cult) can really suck. Furtunately, true friends more than fill-in the gaps they leave.
The time between loosing the first and gaining the second is the hardest ... but it is oh, so worth it in the end.

Sorry to hear of your difficult developments. The family division part is the hardest part.

Iam very sorry for those still struggling with their family within the borg. I think, its a painful experiences unmaginable. Good luck in coming out.
