the word apostate does not even appear in the bible. The word hypocrite does. Jesus used it repeatedly when dealing with the pharisees but never once used the word apostate.

Hence, for one of Jehovahs Witnesses to become a member of such a so called "Christian" association would amount to apostasy.
So by the society becoming members of the United Nations, they themselves are guilty of apostasy, according to their own definition.
