@ CANTLEAVE: In my teens I was certainly an anarchic UK Punk rocker. My Dad was the PO in the congregation so I was shielded from criticism.
Bless him, everyone was scared of him but he REALLY loved his family including my sister who's been disfellowshipped more times than Sinatra made comebacks.
Dad died some years ago but although he was a PO he wasn't the usual zombie witness. He was in the war (WW2) in the British Marines/ SAS.
He taught me the Bible from the KJV rather than the NWT. I really don't know why he stayed in the JW's. I think it was because he thought the restrictions were similar to the SAS and would do us good no matter whether it was the 'trooooOOOoooOoth' or delusional sheisse.
My pioneer Mum stitched zips into the legs of my drainpipe trousers. To this day I don't know why. I was a Sex Pistols fan and loved also loved reggae. (Very typical of the UK youth back then), When 2Tone/mod hit the UK I got a 2tone suit, pork pie hat, borrowd my Dad's 2Tone slim jim tie, a pair of 'Hush puppies' boots and I looked like a pioneer from 1965.
I was a hit with the young sisters in the congregation, they loved a rebel. (I regret not shagging any of them), I ended up marrying a Jamaican lass who shared my reggae Ska love.
Sadly, although she is quite a Jamaican traditionalist and we gel even though I'm a white (In my 50's Punk/Rude Boy/Mod type), Brit (Typical again of Brit culture, mixed race kids all over. Nice), Mrs Punk is even more JW devout since I left 'cold turkey' last year. I was an Elder and resigned! Anarchic tendencies!
Short answer. Yes! I WAS an original UK Punk but am an old fossil now!
