Good luck, my man! My wife and I have been making 'worldly' friends for over a year now and life is great. We are no longer dependent upon the conditional friendship of our former Witness associates. We found out that the real world is a great place to be. People aren't demonized and it's possible to have truly great relationships and friendships with ones we once thought were birdseed.

Starting over is scary, but fun - and it's not as difficult as it might seem at first. My thoughts are with you.

ashitaka, your post expressed how I felt back in 1996 when I faded away. I absolutely have no regrets but I'm still a little angry at myself for being duped by the WBTS, 18 years wasted on bullshiyt!!!

Anyway, your posts was heartwarming because you represent many who have the same exact sentitments and are getting out and moving on with the real world. That is the important thing you are getting out while you are young and have much life ahead of you.

It is a weird feeling you get when you cant take it any more. You feel that you will die if you had to sit through one more useless meeting..........You look at all the books, mags and realize that all the useless/wrong information is just that, and you feel robbed by all the time you studied them week after week, only to see the new light fade to old, useless, outdated crap.

Having my wife cry yet again,(she's a tough one, she rarely cries) something about it made me snap. We all were together and said it almost all at once. My father had nothing to say. He just started to wash the dishes.

A big hug and lots of good wishes for you and your family.
I have a huge amount of guilt about depriving my kids of certain things and of acting like a judgemental ass towards my in-laws for so many years. But, now everything is new to me and my kids and we're enjoying life to the fullest. You can't replace the past, but you can make damn sure that you live each day without fear or guilt and with a renewed sense of adventure. I think in a way that my family and I appreciate the holidays, the family visits and trying new things like karate more than our relatives and friends who weren't witnesses. So ,don't feel too bad. You're going to enjoy things in a way that others have almoist forgotten to do and that will make you someone that others want to be around. Give it time, life will be so much better after this hurdle.
