Has anybody else come across Jdubs that have never heard of the Kingdom Interlinear Translation? I noticed this artcle http://www.soundwitness.org/jw/KIT_part1.htm and I've found when I asked witnesses about it some never heard of it and other's had heard of it but didn't have one and didn't know if they were still in print and one got all weird and suspicious saying "Well what do you want it for?". When I called the Watchtower and asked if it was still in print the guy had to put me on hold and look it up somewhere, he didn't know off the top of his head. And apparently now it's only printed in Brazil and imported... I wonder if it's just a matter of time before they get rid of it entirely? Thoughts?

The KIT is very embarrassing to the Witnesses since it shows the NWT translation to be completely erroneous next to the Greek. A lot of Witnesses still use it, but you could be correct in saying they are trying to phase it out. I did a brief video on it on youtube if you are interested:

very interesting you tube presentation. We had a KIL but seem to have lost it in our recent purge. We have binned so many books as soon as they lost their integrity. We still have the emphatic diaglot so will check the references in that.

Sadly I sent mine to the recyclers 10 years ago just before I moved to australia, now wish I had kept it.
I sent everything from jwland to the recyclers.

I was just wondering if anyone knows the reason why they produced the Interlinea. Was it just because the Diaglot did not have the name Jehovah, or was it more than that?

The Kingdom Interlinear is still available. It is also still quoted in the WT - See last weeks study WT Dec 15, 2010 Page 15 par 10.
There are differences from the Emphatic Diaglott, one I mean to check is 'tombs' (Diaglott) and 'memorial tombs' (KIT)

Dude, how "apostate" can it be, if you can still order it from the Society?
We just got a literature shipment in last week, I saw the lit. servant & others unpacking it, there were a half-dozen or so Interlinears included in the order.
Yeah, if someone took a scholarly approach to it, they could see the WT translator's bias, but...
1) "Scholarly" and "Jehovah's Witness" in the same sentence? Get real
2) No JW would look into the KIT with the idea of "proving them wrong". Even if they did run across something that seemed an inaccurate translation, the most typical JW response would be "Well they must have had good reason to translate it as they did - after all, they had the holy spirit guiding them". Any doubt would quickly be ignored and forgotten about.

Many JWs will get suspicious if someone asks for the KIT to look something up.
It is as if they know there are problems with their doctrines, and they don't want any difficult questions to be asked!

I managed to download a KIT from somewhere. Oh, boy! The inconsitancies I spotted from GK to English....and I wasn't allowed an education!!
As we all know the R&F won't investigate the original Greek but will only use the KIT to agree with the anti-Christ doctrines of the Governing Body.
No matter how obvious a fallacy is the JW forcefield doesn't permit it to sink in. I admit that was me once too! So I'm not slagging anyone off here.........just an obsevation about the power of the writing committee's mind control and cult propoganda!!

I always viewed the KI as a cheap knockoff of the Benjamin Wilson Diaglott - I remain totally skeptical that any real scholarship went into this other than a JW-esque edit and copy of the Diaglott.
I also remain skeptical that any active JW used this publication for any practical purpose whatsoever - other than to try to prove "JW scholarship" to some bible study who did not understand it anyway.
EDIT to add - I seem to remember that the KI was bound in PURPLE - is it still made up this way?
