Deaths revised to 38 this morning with about 100 missing. We're 500 km south of ChCh.
Some people from work have family in ChCh so they're pretty nervous. One wife of a nephew and their three week old baby missing.
No one from ur families hurt that we know of.

Very sad news about the earthquake. Our hearts go out to all the friends that have to cope with this horrible catastrophe.

Hi
I was there for it, it was REAL scary, there was nowhere to go large buildings swaying over you.. I just ran into the middle of Hereford St (had just walked through Manchester from Worcester)...I was very lucky that in Hereford nothing big fell down. My hubby had to come on a 2 hr trip with the kids to take back to the nice country....as my car is still in a carpark building in the CBD.
I live 2 hrs up north from Christchurch, but had just arrived at 10 am from a trip to Wellington and went into town to meet a friend for a cup of coffee...before heading North.....the quake hit when I was on the sidewalk about two buildings away from hers. I am so glad I was wasn't driving on Cashel street (I had just done that, looking for the car park building), whose buildings which pretty much fell down entirely. I never found her as mobile networks were stuffed. She texted and called yesterday to let me know that she is OK, just no water. Most people in the CBD gathered in Cathedral Square to be in an open space (and just as well cause there was big aftershock at 1:20 pm when we were there)....there were people covered in dust, sahking and crying....I really felt for the people of Christchurch, they have aleady gone through so much. I had missed the first one by one day, as i had just moved up here....we felt it here but it just a bit of a rolly-polly. This one was MEAN!!! I thought it could well be my end, as it sadly was for others.
I think there was supposed to be a JW convention this Wednesday (I remember the date because I had something else scheduled for that day) and a couple more days, but since I have lost touch with them I am not sure...I guess it has been called off. Last year they held it at Pioneer Stadium.
I don't know the other NZ posters besides Chris, (Black Sheep) who is in the North Island.

Our thoughts are with you mariana,as well as any other posters who have experienced this tragedy. But it`s not just Christchurch who have experienced this,Lyttelton, was devastated also as, well as many other fringe towns near the epicentre, our thoughts and condolencses go out to all you who have undergone this tragic experience.
On a negative note ,the only help jehovah`s Witnesses will give is to baptized jw`s/ or study`s/ or family members/ or interested ones /
The rest are worthy of destruction because they are not Jehovah`s Witnesses

My thoughts are with all in NZ
I saw this today, pretty scary:
A house near Lyttleton in New Zealand was left with a gaping hole after a car-sized boulder dislodged during the quake and ploughed through it.
