when JW's are bein' encouraged to cut back on work in order to slave in the fields

you can best bet that many will have to come to rely on this system (welfare) of some sort

in order to make ends meet. Things are hard enough as it is. when they deliberately choose

not to work, they don't pay into this system, but they take out of it everytime they apply for

help. There was a sister in the hall I attended, that had her hours reduced at the restaurant

she work just so she could pioneer, her work schedual stayed reduced for awhile afterwards

and because she lived in low income housing, her rent was reduced also, she seen that as a blessing

from Jehovah I see it as freeloadin' I wonder if the housing people were to find out that she ask

to cut her hours, what would they do concerning her rent, and would she consider it a blessin' then

Bottom line: This system is payin her rent while she work for the WTS for free

Don't even get me started on people milking the system! We had a low income family in our hall that encouraged their adult children who lived at home not to work because if they did, the rent would go up. They worked menial, low wage, low hour jobs so that they would stay under the government maximum income for their household. They got food stamps, clothing vouchers, low rent, free utilities - more than many harder working families could afford. They spent the extra they made on video games and computers.

@Franklin Massey, Pioneer entitlement is encouraged by the organization:

*** km 11/10 p. 4 Question Box - In What Practical Ways Can We Assist Pioneers ***

Certainly our well-chosen words may encourage them to continue serving as pioneers. (Prov. 25:11) Could we adjust our weekly schedule in order to work with them in the ministry? When working together, we might suggest using our vehicle instead of theirs. And if we ride in their vehicle, perhaps we could offer a contribution to help cover their expenses. (1 Cor. 13:5; Phil. 2:4) We also demonstrate our loving support by showing hospitality and occasionally inviting pioneers to our home for a meal.—1 Pet. 4:8, 9.

    *** km 2/92 p. 7 pars. 5-6 Showing Support for the Pioneers ***
5 Everyone Can Help: Publishers can help by making themselves available more often to work with the pioneers. Pioneers enjoy the company and support of the other publishers. Perhaps you can arrange to work with the pioneers once a week or twice a month. Material things can be shared with the pioneers, and this generosity is much appreciated by the pioneers.—Phil. 4:14-19.
6 Families can do much to assist their members who are pioneering. Often, household chores can be rearranged to permit one or more family members to pioneer. One sister with three children works two days a week. Her sons help out by caring for the shopping and doing work around the home. The daughter helps with the cleaning and cooking. Since her graduation, she too has begun pioneering, alternating workdays with her mother. Such cooperation within the family enables more to pioneer and brings blessings to the family.

    LIFEISTOOSHORT and FRANKLIN MASSEY:

The religion's stand against college and careers enables some of these people to be the freeloaders that they are. This was my biggest beef with the religion.

Look at the mess the JW religion is in: they preach that everybody there is a 'minister' - unlike a protestant religion where there is one minister and his wife and family who are supported by a parish. This is where many deluded people in the JW religion go wrong: they are wishing and hoping that somebody support them or give them handouts!! As far as I am concerned, many do not desire to be in the workforce because they can't 'hack' it and they want a leisurely life of pioneering and ringing doorbells. I have had a few admit as much to me.

I really have no use and no pity for people who choose to live on the edge and I am NOT interested in their sacrifice. I wouldn't give these people a crumb and don't want to know about them. I have seen their sense of entitlement and I think it borders on jealousy and covetousness. Now that middle age is here for some of these people, desperation is coming into the picture, especially in view of the bad economy. What kind of problems and ill will must this cause in the congregations?

I have no desire to be around any of this.

Good thing the WTBTS is building Accredited Educational Centers to help their followers learn a skilled trade.

Like the 14 million dollar facility their will built in S.C.

Heck, we had a circuit overseer go one better - Brothers, do not let work get in the way of meeting attendance. (Local needs talk during the CO visit).

At this particular hall, there were a fair number of brothers working for a certain large-scale manufacturer (which I will not name as it would out me), and work there routinely involved shiftwork. For most of these brothers, there was no choice in the matter - on certain shifts, mid-week and on occasion, even Sunday meetings would have to be missed. So this non-working, fully subsidized country-wide travelling representative has the audacity to chide the local brothers for KEEPING their jobs even though the jobs involve shiftwork, inasmuch telling them that if they truly loved Jehovah, they would make alternate arrangements and find alternate employment.

Do these guys really believe that, based on a 15-minute diatribe given once more or less every 6 months, breadwinners are going to ditch their well-paying jobs and rely on Jah to provide, once they give their employer notice? Apparently so.

Thank you everyone! You have put into words things that bothered me for years. I am out now for over 10 years after being "IN" for 25. I am constantly amazed at how simpleton I find everything Watchtower to be. At one point I realized that WE were paying the mortgage for the KH which, when paid off, would go to the Borg. And that those who give their lives and are no longer able to attend meetings are forgotten about and left on their own. At least the government (part of satan's system) will end up supporting them to some extent.

LITS said: " This religion has so many free loaders in it, it makes me sick."

And those who are supporting the freeloaders are feeling the guilt of having a job and having to miss some meetings or go out in service. They are never thanked. What do they hear? Jehovah is thanked for taking care of their needs. My parents (non-jw) have financially helped others - many jw - over the years. And what do the recipients say? THANKS TO JEHOVAH... blah blah blah. No gratitude. Period. The givers after all are doing what they "should be doing" and what they "should be doing" is supporting the preaching work.

Time for lunch. Better go before I have the urge to hurl.

Pirata, thanks for the excerpts. Just another example of the Society toying with the rank and file's expectations.

The welfare system is not there to support folks who choose to work partime

and trust, with that many folks in the house, and two people only workin' parttime

they most definitley are recieveing assistance. From this system of things, welfare

is to help folks until they can find a way to support themselves without the aid of

this system, it's supposed to be a bridge across troubled times, JW's always havin'

    troubled times, VOLUNTARILY

they always sayin' they will be glad when this system of things is over wit' I don't know why

cause they milkin' the hell out of it !!!!!
