From now on I'm doin it. Buying something nice for me, nice dinner with a friend, if my mother was still here, perhaps phone her up and get her to tell me all about that day & thank her. One day I will have a great party .... the first.

If you feel you can't celebrate it, just start slowly. Buy yourself a drink, or treat yourself to a meal. Buy yourself a CD or a book and view it as "your" birthday present to yourself. No one else needs to know, so you won't be embarrassed by any attention.
