Interesting read LT.
Beepbeep, hey, I wore a beard in the 70's nothing happened. I wore colored shirts to the meetings and nothing happened.
The only time anything happened to me was, forget it, I'm not telling.

i'm glad this thread has been made active again. When I found the site, i looked for Scottish posters, read quite a few (looking for anyone I knew!)
I read all little toe's topics (sounds like I'm stalking?!) was encouraged, enthused, and enthralled. A fantastic read, and an example which gave me goosebumps. Your conviction was so courageous.
I know from your other posts that you've had it tough since then. Best wishes for the future.

meant to say. You didn't sound so Scottish in your final public address.........but your posts on the website are filled with Scots flavour/humour. Have you developed more of a lilt in the last few years.
The Aussies reckon I've got a broad Scottish accent, but my relatives in Scotland, (all witnesses, so we don't talk very often!), say i've got an Aussie accent.
Wha's like us, damn few an they're a deed!!

That was a great and novel way to exit the sect, I wonder what the reactions were during the minutes after the farewell talk.
I can understand LT's frustration because believing in Christ as the mediator is the essence of Christianity, through him they receive the spirit of adoption that makes God their Father, something that was not the case from the days of Eden when Adam fell to that Pentecost.
To the Jews He was never the Father but the Lord. And so it seems to be with the JWs today. -

Just read the whole thread...Awesome..Can someone smarter than me post up the link again to make it easy for Newbies to be able to hear the great DA talk?

Nawww, I'm still hereWombat:http://www.angelfire.com/trek/littletoe/Profile.html
Deeskis:I've moved around a lot, so my accent is a bit of a Heinz '57. Unfortunately it adapts slightly to whomever I'm speaking to. The accent in the Isles accent is fairly soft, anyhow.

The reactions were many and varied; from anger, through shock, to grief. It wasn't a pretty sight. -

It might be because he isn't scottish! And once upon a time he sounded like a Notts lad, like I did!
However I can confirm that he has a little twang and a nice cadence. (Best scottish accent on the board belongs to Tijkimo - but alas he's not Scottish either!)
(Oh I have a Scottish boyfriend - but he's been down south so long his accent is fairly gentle).

LT, I loved reading that and listening to your talk. I'm curious--did anyone try to interrupt your speech and escort you off the stage? I'm imagining not because there isn't much "wrong" about your speech until the last minute or two.
Did you walk directly out of the building afterwards and leave? Did you ever find out what the elders did immediately following your speech--did they just go on with the show---"all stand and sing song #73" or what? Just curious.

LT I can understand that they were intensely displeased because they got shocked by what you did though they deserved it alright, someone announced publicly his disassociation, leaving the fold, from the WTS platform. Was your JW wife crying? Did others leave later because of your talk?
