unrelated gratuitous photo related : the expression on her face is priceless. It's like she never realized they were THAT large before, and is just finding out now.. "wow, those ARE huge.. that explains a lot."

MB: I'm not going to speak against the org, but I'm going to get them to use their noodles and really THINK about everything. Critical thinking is a necessary skill that gets squelched in JW kids.
MF: This is my planned strategy, too.
Well, I hate to peddle literature AGAIN but I've started going through a couple of good books that, so far, seem to be great for parents who want to raise critical thinking kids. Both books are by Dale McGowan and this one contains some great practical ideas for teaching kids to think on their own and continually question authority and groupthink.

Also, I think one is bigger than the other.

They are definitely not symmetrical (but then what in nature is?), though it could be the angle.
Content related : I did dedicate myself via prayer before my baptism. Then 10 years later, I realized there wasn't anyone on the other end of the phone-call.

I made a dedication prayer, but not because my heart was moved to do so. I did it because that was one of the steps to getting baptised in the OM (Organized to Accomplish Our Ministry, if memory serves me right) book. I was 12 and thought if I got baptised before my teens I would have even more of Jehovah's help to get me through those tough years I was about to face. I was df'd at 17, back in 6 months later. I got married that same year and da'd 9 years later to get out of the dark hell-hole that my life had become. I've NEVER been happier!!

haha Cheez, you motor-boatin' SOB, you old sailor, you!
Thanks everyone for the interesting comments. It seems as though early baptism is encouraged perhaps as a way to "lock that person up". Maybe if 5 youths get baptized and 2 get DF'd, they are still 3 JWs stronger! Praise His name!

I think that would require closer examination to be certain.
Mr. F, do you have a phone number for her?

I got baptized in an evangelical church when I was nineteen. Full immersion, modest gown (*Ahem Mr. Falcon). I was baptized the same night I came to the front in repentance. It was a life-changing experience that I saw repeated many times because of the practice of my church. I saw so many people glowing, transformed, softened by the experience.
Rituals have power.
As I became a mature Christian I often puzzled why that initial transformation did not seem to stick. I especially remember this one family, transformed, slowly hardened over the years back to their base selves. Old habits of thinking and living are very, very hard to break.
