    Dream interpretation for SPIDER:

    Spider
To dream of a spider, denotes that you will be careful and energetic in your labors, and fortune will be amassed to pleasing proportions. To see one building its web, foretells that you will be happy and secure in your own home. To kill one, signifies quarrels with your wife or sweetheart. If one bites you, you will be the victim of unfaithfulness and will suffer from enemies in your business. If you dream that you see many spiders hanging in their webs around you, foretells most favorable conditions, fortune, good health and friends. To dream of a large spider confronting you, signifies that your elevation to fortune will be swift, unless you are in dangerous contact. To dream that you see a very large spider and a small one coming towards you, denotes that you will be prosperous, and that you will feel for a time that you are immensely successful; but if the large one bites you, enemies will steal away your good fortune. If the little one bites you, you will be harassed with little spites and jealousies. To imagine that you are running from a large spider, denotes you will lose fortune in slighting opportunities. If you kill the spider you will eventually come into fair estate. If it afterwards returns to life and pursues you, you will be oppressed by sickness and wavering fortunes. For a young woman to dream she sees gold spiders crawling around her, foretells that her fortune and prospect for happiness will improve, and new friends will surround her.

    IF IT'S CHASING YOU:

How do you React to being chased?

Do you stop and confront the pursuer, eager to face the threat or issue? Or do you continue to run, feeling confident that you can outrun the chaser?

Let's face it, the primary objective of running from a pursuer is to escape... So, ask yourself, who or what is it that you are wanting or trying to escape from in your life?

The figure or person you are being chased by in your dream can also represent an aspect of yourself. Anger, jealousy, fear, love, and insecurities can all manifest in your mind as something to fear, avoid and run from. You may be projecting these feelings onto the unknown chaser.

    Dream of insects:

    Insect

To see insects in your dream, signify minor obstacles that you must overcome. There are small problems and annoyances that need to be dealt with. You feel that you are under attack. Or something or someone may be "bugging" or pestering you. Alternatively, insects are symbolic of precision, alertness, and sensitivity. You may need to organize your thoughts and sort out your values. Sometimes they are seen as divine messengers.

"And if you think a spider in the car is bad try a daddy long legs on you steering wheel staring at you between your hands gripping the wheel!"

A daddy long legs won't hurt you that much, they will only cause a slight stinging sensation (their fangs are only 0.25mm). That is, if they even bother to bite you.

I used to play with them as a kid

Doesn't matter.....it's one of those things you can't explain. I think it being on my steering wheel and looking at me is what paniced me..he had no where to fall but my lap..and I had a skirt on and he had all those little legs!!..

I used to let daddly long legs crawl on my hands and arms as a small child too and I wasn't at all afraid. Weird eh?

I think I can pinpoint when my phobia started, around the age of 6 or 7. My brother and I slept in a basement bedroom in an old house. One night, I crawled into bed, reached down to pull the covers up and when I unrolled them, a giant black cellar spider, about the size of my palm rushed up towards my face. I screamed and jumped out of bed and have been afraid of them ever since.

It was not helped by the fact that in my 20's I lived in this wood frame apartment (they like wood!) and a couple of times in the night I was woke up from a dead sleep by the feel of a spider crawling across my face. You never saw anyone jump out of bed so fast in your life! I have ninja reflexes when it comes to spiders. Finally, in my late 20's I was bitten in the night and my arm swelled up painfully. That cemented my hatred of them for life.

I'm mostly afraid of them at night, when I can't see them. To this day, more than 25 years later, I still shake out my bedcovers and check before I crawl in at night as well as do a quick scan of the walls and ceilings for any visible ones.

    Get therapy.

We had a lady in NZ trying to get the Post Office to withdraw a postage stamp because it had a picture of a spider on it. That spider is just as much a New Zealand icon as the kiwi.

You just have to bite the bullet and deal to it. You could hurt yourself, or someone you love, doing something silly to escape from a harmless bug that only wants to avoid the big scary human that could easily turn it into a smear on the carpet.

Snoozy - Thanks for the dream interpretations! That subject has always interested me.

CogDis - XOXO Smaller spiders cause smaller panic attacks for me. When I see them around the house, I usually put a glass over them until my man comes home. But my heart will be racing, the hair on my arms stands up and I get the shakes. It's the bigger ones that are a bigger problem. I actually can't catch my breath when I'm confronted by them.

I think those of you who suggested therapy are right. I'm going to look into it.

Thank you all also for your experiences!

I took 2 Advil Nighttimes before bed last night and slept well.
