It's the way the world works. Friendship carries responsiblities as well as benefits.

Helping others is a large part of our Spirituality.

The first order of business for Japan is to assess the damage and to organize where the need is most required and what is needed. This is what the Relief Agencies around the world are waiting for. The Japanese government and it's agencies must have this information and they must request the help before the foreign Relief Agencies can deploy. They should know more today.

I believe Japanese culture is somewhat prideful, the U.S. offered aid after the 1995 Kobe earthquake and Japan would not accept.

Having too many people helping can be a problem. Japan has to get organized and assess damage in order to deploy relief. If relief is not needed because they have enough, they will not accept the help.

We all pointed out to Sarah that people around the world would send volunteers, medical supplies, doctors and medical help and other supplies. I am not sure where the girl got the idea we are too poor to help Japan. I guess it was from some Obama bashing relative, friend or website. Louisiana is a pretty conservative state. She lives up north in what Louisianans affectionately call Yankee territory. Louisiana is one of the most generous places I've lived as far as people helping each other. North or south Louisiana, they will give you the shirts off their backs.

Sarah also has a bit of a different, outspoken dad. Her mother is as sweet and nice a lady as I have ever met. Both of Sarah's parents were raised going to the KH, but neither ever were baptised. They both gave it up as teens and never have looked back. They put up a tree and enjoy a fairly normal life now. I don't know how Bruce feels about politics though. Bruce is Sarah's dad.

This is her first comment on the thread:

"The situation in Japan caused by the tsumani does suck...but Obama has already decided that the U.S. will aid the tsumani ravaged areas. We can barely help ourselves! No offense to Japan...you're awesome and all and it's not that I dont think you deserve the help...its that as a country with over a trillion dollar deficit...we are in no position to help anyone..."
