    Another $0.02 from me...

Since there are no provable answers from either side, it only underscores the fact that science is only a tool and what it yields is open to almost any interpretation under the sun. The so-called logical vehicles of the "giant orbiting tea pot" or the "flying spaghetti monster" simply don't, um, fly from a disciplined philosophical point of view. These only expose the childishness and weakness of the atheistic philosophical position just as much as it exposes the theist position. (Somehow the word 'strawman' keeps coming to mind...) What it comes down to is that there is an entire spectrum of answers and beliefs. Polar opposite philosophies are very black-and-white (thus very childish). I'm walking away from this game show...

You folks keep trying to put a momentum on atheism. It's not a belief. It's a lack of belief. It needs no proof.

beksbks, How is atheism a lack of belief?

I mean... you believe that there is no god or creator.

Nobody can prove or disprove that god exists so you either believe that he/she/it exists, doesn't exist or you aren't sure.

My dictionary even has the definition of atheism as "The doctrine or belief that there is no God."

Maybe i'm just not understanding you. Could you clarify what you mean?

I mean it's not a belief, it's a lack of belief. But we could go round and round on this. Which came first, the chicken or the egg sort of argument. I simply do not believe. If you saw an empty space would you say I don't believe there is a desk there? It's not an action, it's a lack of action. Believers try to define it from thier point of view. Only when this discussion comes up does it take on the "belief" aspect.

It's like a lack of belief in zeus and the greek pantheon. It's not a belief. Zeus and the other gods are simply not in the mind, simply out of the picture. It doesn't entail a belief, or a system of belief.
