I liked the ending of The Fugitive where the one-armed man is finally nailed and Gerard realizes Kimble is innocent.
I had forgotten about all those, OTWO and Ding. They were all great endings. Never watched Lost, Friends or Twin Peaks and only watched MacGyver sporatically.
i liked ER which i watched in its entirety*...
they brought back many relevant characters
from earlier seasons to catch the viewers up
with their "lives"....
loved and hated "saving grace" ending....
the only way it could have ended
*even tho it was a thursday night/ book study night
the BS met at my house and by 9:00 everyone was
gone and yes i went straight to the tube and sat
to watch ER in my dress clothes!!!
The problem with including things like Twin Peaks is that it didn't PLAN to end, it ended due to ratings and so a final couple of episodes had to be thrown together to give viewers some semblance of closure. The best endings to a series are those that KNOW they are going to end and have an entire season to plan and lay the groundwork for it.
I may be one of the few people who liked season two of Twin Peaks. It was really starting to go somewhere beyond the Laura Palmer case but nobody seemed to care.
The series end for Sex and the City was absolutely perfect. Not a perfect happily ever after; just a perfect ending for the individual characters, according to their lives.
Then they went ahead and made a movie and ruined it.
Tammy
The last episode of Brady Bunch, when Greg's hair turned orange. Television at it's most riveting.

Now *that* is dedication!
I'm getting the feeling that there are very few JWN minions who had the tolerance for shows like The Sopranos and Six Feet Under. Both had some cringeworthy aspects to them - violence, profanity and, in the case of the latter, a whole bunch of sexual taboos. I waited five years to start watching the Sopranos and didn't start watching Six Feet Under until late last year. Both were exceptional.
being human series 3 ended yesterday I wept buckets. Just when you thought a happy ending was on the cards it got very dark indeed.
I cried when Hill Street Blues ended. I agree with Mary Tyler Moore show ending-I loved that show. Newhart ranks high on best endings. Newhart is just a throughly lovable type guy. Mash, of course I think has the all time best ending of a major show. Cheers was very good too. We cried when it ended, it was like saying goodbye to an old friend. I love Seinfeld, but they really blew the ending. There are others that I watched, like Barney Miller, I loved that show and was sad when it ended, but can't exactly recall the final episode. Forgot ER. There was another hospital show out at the time ER was, it was also great.
