They Gotta Know They are Running a Cult - a Rant

This reminds me of the video for Bethelites that Randy posted, and one GB member was talking about when he worked binding the books and they were told to hurry because Armageddon was coming and well . . . it didn't but it's still coming. I don't know if they're aware of what they're actually doing, but it seems like they can justify anything if it's good for the organization. If they know, they're sick and if they don't, they're captives of that concept. I have a hard time believing they know what they're doing because of all the other things that would mean. It's just easier for me to believe they're victims of that concept. Hey, maybe there'll be a new defector like Ray Franz and then we can find out.

Six in one hand, and a half dozen in the other. Are they genuinely delusional, or are they only too aware and corrupt? Or maybe some of them are genuinely delusional, and others are corrupt? Maybe they're like typical elder bodies in your average congregation where you have one or two dynamic men who impose their will on the more moderate and weaker elders? As a result the whole congregation is affected by the will of only one or two individuals because the other handful of elders lacked a backbone and didn't have the courage to voice their true opinions? Right after the COBOE says, "all in favor?", its like time stops for a brief moment as you see brother's eyes start darting in different areas throughout the room in an effort to get an idea of what the majority will be. Nobody want's to, or, maybe most lack the courage to outwardly vote with their conscience and as a result, matters that should have reasonable debate and dissent, end up with unanimous decisions. Then the congregation gets an announcement about some matter, sometimes of little importance, but often the opposite, and the congregation thinks the elders unanimously and unitedly made a decision with Jehovah's spirit upon them. Meanwhile the handful of cowardly and moderate elders know the truth of what happened. The one or two bullies on the body continue on with this kind behavior for years until someone finally checks them, or they make a serious mistake.

I wonder if this is what's happening on a higher level in your Branches, and at Bethel when the GB has their weekly meeting, and when the Legal Department has their say in important matters. I'm under the impression that the Writing Department does very little thinking, rather they produce whatever the resident bully heading them decides needs to be delivered to the flock. Jaracz probably bullied his so called constituents who are more of hand picked lackeys more than anything else. Those on the GB now that Jaracz hand a strong hand in appointing, won't be able to shake off his influence so easily. Like him or not, he had a dynamic presense. Even jokingly a poster on this forum has as his avatar a picture of Jaracz with a note that says, "I'll be back!" Thats how much of an impact this man had on our lives, and those he worked with. You know when the director of The Last King of Scotland did a screening for some Ugandans, the people in the audience thought Forrest Whitaker was Idi Amin reincarnated and that he had come back to get them. Thats how much of an impact Idi Amin had on his populace. I think its possible the same kind of fear and hesitation to initiate reform in this organization is present within those currently taking the lead in this organization. They're possibly shell shocked to some degree.

I don't know if they're corrupt, or delusional, or what. I really don't. There's so many mixes signals coming from the literature, and from the COs, and other platforms, that its hard to tell what the hell is going on up there. Who knows man? (shrugs cyber shoulders)

Like lostG said, grandiose delusions, for the most part. The rules that apply to other people dont apply to them.

They know all right... most of them actually discover "the truth" when they get to a certain level... that's when a strange jewish guy walks over to them, taps them on the shoulder and says: "Don't look at me just keep looking forward and do as you're told."

JWs from the top to the bottom are in too deep to get out with any dignity. So, they grab at any and all worldly events to prove the end is near and fudge the statistical numbers to prove that JWs are doing better and better- Jehoobah has chosen them and is blessing their work. Just like a big placebo pill, the WT "end times & future paradise" dogmas make JWs feel better - even window washers can feel smug about themselves. The other issue, is that JWs want the lies to continue, so they don't have to face the reality of their wasted and foolish life-- so-oo, the GB gives them just what they want- new light. For example, the never-ending overlapping 1914 generation teaching is like manna from heaven for JWs as they can keep on feeling that they are the one true religion and continue ignoring the deep doo-doo that is up to their necks.

Not to hit on JWs only, but I know their are Christian pastors who don't believe the Jesus is God, the Trinty or original sin mumbo jumbo, but they keep pastoring away, giving the flock just what they are paying for and rationalizing that the salvation message is what the congregants want to hear, it does no harm and often it helps people have a better, more moral life.

OTWO- The WT society DOES know what they are doing in their marketing schemes and scamming of the rank and file members. But they choose to turn a blind eye to what they are REALLY doing. Just like the leaders of our United States government and some Governors of states, i.e. ( Wisconsin) choose to turn a blind eye to what THEY are really all about and doing. It's really the same mode of operation when you analyze it. Tell the public or rank & file JW's that you are all about charity and saving people to give an outward appearance of pure motives , but there are far more subversive motives on the inside - like $$$$$$$ and retirement , free health insurance, free meals , provided for until death ( provided the top dogs stay at Bethel ) so they won't have to work in the outside " world ". It's all so subversive and disgusting it makes me want to puke. End of our shared rants

They know it's all a lie. There may be some personal beliefs about God, Jesus, and everlasting life that they believe to be true. But they made up the rest and they know it's crap.

I think that they have the groupthink thing going on; you know, so and so is a smart guy and he believes the end is near.

And they are too invested to even consider the idea that they are wrong.

Two words might explain, Jer (peace to you!): blind... and hypocrites. Neither really "see", do they?

    Again, peace to you!
