If the WTS would propose a "get out of jail free" policy -- get rid of the shunning for DA and let everybody out that wants out -- no repercussions on them -- how many would RUN for the door??? What % do you think would jump at the chance to exit as long as it did not meaning losing their family and friends??

I'd venture to say 20% to 33% would leave pretty quickly. I'd also venture to say it'd be the age range of the age 18 to mid 40ish that would make the decision to leave.

Percentage who would leave... My honest guess is around 50-60. Not all at once but would slow down in service without whip on back and naturally fade

However i promise 100% of elderelites would leave within seconds of such an annoucement

Very true. If I have to sacrifice what I believe in to appease my family just to keep peace and pretend I believe in something that I really don't believe in and think is fake and false and damaging - it's not worth it. You are right- It's blackmail

That is how they keep people in without making their rules easier to live with. They do not create value--people that are in are wasting much time and energy, not to mention money, and getting nothing in exchange. And there are endless rules.

Create amnesty, and quite a few will simply leave because they are tired of wasting resources or obeying rules. It would also limit the ability of the hounders to keep the witlesses in line. They might have to actually allow people to abide by teachings from the Bible when they prove the Washtowel teachings wrong. Or, they might have to create a few basic ground rules that most people can live by, and stick to them while allowing free discussion of new doctrines. People that disagree with a new doctrine would be allowed to introduce a rational argument to the mix without being silenced. Since the Washtowel doesn't work that way, they need to make things as miserable as possible for those who leave or break the rules.

    Magwitch:

As my father said .."It is like a time out for a naughty child"

Except that with a naughty child, the time out isn't excessive - it doesn't usually go past the time when the child says "I'm sorry". With DFing, the "time-out", so to speak, is extended beyond the time the individual Repents™ - says they are sorry - for months and years in some cases. It's not about teaching the person a lesson at all, it is taking delight in their suffering and social deprivations. It is recognized as a form of mental and emotional torture. No one in their right mind would ever do that to a child, no matter how naughty they'd been.
