Since the Bible makes no clear statement about the use of minor blood fractions or the immediate reinfusion of a patient's own blood during surgery, a medical process known as blood salvaging, the use of such treatments is a matter of personal choice.

So if these are a matter of personal choice, other uses of blood are not a personal choice? Witnesses have to do as the Watchtower commands? I think that's what they are saying here.

The WTBTS has deliberately mistranslated and misinterpreted these scriptures, and are therefore guilty of α?ματος themselves.

I would guess there's a difference between "blood shed" (Two words) and "bloodshed" (One word)

"Blood shed" (Two words) denotes blood that has been shed

"Bloodshed" (One word) is a verb which means to shed blood

    αιμα means "blood"

In context, it can mean blood that has been shed: (Matthew 23:35)

παν αιμα δικαιον εκχυνομενον επι της γες

all [the] righteous blood shed upon the earth

...but the word is still functioning as a noun that means "blood" in the sentence
