Get the hard drive of your computer out. Grab a hammer and break it in pieces, lots of them..... What happened to the data stored in the hardrive? thats exactly what happens to the data stored in you dna......

Given the right technology you could conceivably reassemble the hardrive into working order.

I assume that you're making an analogy with DNA. There is a point in which the DNA is irreparable or actually no longer exists due to its total breakdown into basic molecules.

How do we know that the molecules that it broke down into cannot be identified as a specific molecule that was once part of a DNA strand, again given the right technology and an unlimited time for human evolution.

Well you can store the DNA information already. But if you really grab a hammer and break it off... no know tecnology up to day will get your data back because the medium in which it resides its destroyed. if you only dissassemble the hard drive and keep the actual disks... you might be able to recuperate the data again.. because the medium exists.

DNA is an acid that contains chemical information...... leave the acide exposed and it will decompose, (it will mix with other elements and it wont be an acid anymore) so yeah with the right technology that can get all the elements that were once in that acid and if you put them all together you will be able to get the DNA information... (good luck finding all the atoms) however there is no need for that since we can already store the information of your dna and save it in computers.

We have the technology to reproduce cells based on that acid..... they can grow tissue already.. so yeah in the future they might be able to get a copy of you...... but your consiousness its a different story.

I didn't know that, it must be expensive!

Man isn't it? Maybe in a billion years, if we are still around, we'll find a way to do it.

why not. its all information, what do you think happens in your brain? its just electro-chemical reactions goin on and off... Right now we know what parts of the brain do what and how... soon or later we will identify every single part and just store it somewhere else.

In a way your consciousness would be able to be stored somewhere else....

how do you know that right now you are not just a computer program running with your consiousness in the future of you in the past....

    freaky uh?

When I got diagnosed with Bi Polar disorder I went through 2 years of trying different medications. Before they gave me any pills they made sure they told me that brain meds is not an "exact science."

Prescribing brain medication for behaviour problems is like a someone who knows the basics of the internal combustion engine and is trying to be a licenced mechanic.

"It makes a clicking sound? No that's no good at all. Here pour this into the engine wait two weeks and then tell me what happens."

We sure have a lot of room for growth in our understanding of the human brain.

maybe you should research your own symptoms.... just because we have advances in science doesnt mean all doctors are .... I would say many many are behind.

A newly graduated doctor has newer information,,, but less experience.

I have spent many hours doing just that. The science is just not exact enough yet. I'm sure it will be at some point, but that this point in time psychiatry's limitations render them pretty useless for me. I plan on checking in every now and then to see what's up with the current technolgoy.

Not to say psychiatry doesn't help millions of people and are growing in knowledge every day. Frankly weed has helped me 100x more than any other pill ever has. It helps me focus my mind's thoughts instead of just getting too much at a time and getting nothing out of it.
