So they never heard of earphones/headphones? Maybe they were counting time.

I wonder why this patient didn't have headphones. That might have been an excuse before 1979, when the Walkman was invented. Even in the 1980s, a Walkman was rather expensive and the tape would frequently need changing. In Feb 1983, a knock-off of the Walkman cost $29.95--and required 3 AA batteries and lacked rewind.
However, this is no longer an excuse. These days, anyone can get a MP3 player for roughly $30 (and that $30 is worth less than 1983's $30). Most people can get a computer and put the Kingdumb maladies on MP3 files. The damn songs also fit on one standard mini disc, using the LP4 mode. A mini disc player these days uses one AA battery that lasts about 5 times longer than the 3 AA batteries used to, and will run well on a NiMH battery that can be recharged. A regular MP3 player uses a rechargeable battery that charges in its docking device.
I would insist that the patient use headphones (which have gotten a lot less intrusive during the past 10 years) instead of playing this obnoxious "music(??)" out loud. Suppose you were to play Christmas music around this patient? Right out in the open? Most people do not like Kingdumb maladies, because they are so poorly executed. Yes, I was listening to Christmas music while decorating the hallway for Christmas--but most of the people actually liked the music, and I had a variety of something close to 600 of them (now, it is more than 680). Which is more than the 135 dying-cats "songs".

Yeah, they've really been pushing this new song book. I've never heard such fervor over anything so inane. "From Jehovah" has never been used so often as concerning this collection of lack-luster tripe. JWs were already convinced the New System is going to have Kingdom Melodies piped in, planet-wide, over PA systems. This new promotion as the new songs being a "gift from Jehovah" is just another power grab by the GB to further 'lift himself up over everyone who is called "god" or an object of reverence, so that he sits down in the temple of the The God, publicly showing himself to be a god.' - 2Thes 2:4
They want so badly for everything they have a hand in being elevated to the level of the Bible. And JWs just lap it up like the stupid dogs returning to their vomit they are. I swear, if the average JW found one of the GB members' shopping lists, they'd build a shrine to it and prostrate themselves before it.

I hated kingdom melodies. Always found them dry and boring. Now I listen to Third Day, Amy Grant, Stephen C. Chapman, and Fernando Ortega. These are much more moving and spiritual, Peace Lilly

I was having computer problems when I posted this didn't think it posted... So to end my saga... She wasn't the "brightest" so I was trying to figure out how to add some dout in her head and right when I was about to discharge her she said how many friends she had at her church so I had to ask what church she attended. She said "well it's not church she is studying to be one of JW" I said Oh I used to go there but never will again. she looked scared and said "What? why would you stop" I said" well, like you, I thought I had a lot of friends but when I needed them the most I realized they don't care about me at all" I walked away and she looked like she was about to have a panic attack. It was funny I over heard her talking to the person she studies with and I know her. She is a great person, like so many JW's. It made up for listening to the bad opera KM man all day
