I know all about this bunch!

OK, to qualify for entry, you have to prove that you were once an A1 publisher. Most of the admittances are female, so anyone less than at least a CO's wife, maybe a PO's wife or special pioneer is automatically refused.

How do I know this? My Mum told me! Her best pal, a wealthy-ish lady in her 90's battled to be accepted and was eventually accepted. The homes are run by a consortium of JW business men in "good standing".

I posted about this some months ago.

What happens to a resident if they get DF'd? Imagine one professes disbelief in the Watchtower Society and gets a visit by a JC who promptly DFs the person. Do the elders tell the manager of the home? Does the person get shunned by staff and residents or are they tipped out on the street?

I guess problems like that are what prevents the WTS setting up or endorsing residential care homes.

What puzzles me is the charitable status, most UK residential care and nursing homes have no charitable status as far as I know, the only difference being that they take in residents irrespective of their religion,it seems like they are penalized for this, but anyway I know one Lady quite wealthy running such homes,I doubt very much that those who stay at the JW homes stay for free, poor JWs residents would get state aid for most or all of the fees.
So to sum it up residentual homes are big buisness over here but when Witnesses do it they get to run it as a charity.

    Ivor,

I had a dream last night. I told one of my long time JW friends some ‘Home truths’ about the truth. The hurt look in her eye…. The look that tells you....your history, really hurt me in my dream. On waking I am still sad as I think about my friend, as she is still very much involved in the borg. (even moved to where the need is great (lol quiet ones) Also learnt a new tricky language)

Maybe she will be one of those who eventually applies to be admitted into Ji-Jirah. It is most sad, as my friend could have been whatever she wanted in life, she well had the brains. But no, her parents brought her and her lovely sister up to be fulltime pioneers, enduring all the denial and poverty that goes with it.

I think of them a lot, I would love to ask them just what motivates them? What do they think NOW? (after all the many conversations we used to have re: the trooth?)
I want to tell them to go get the education which their very well educated parents deniedTHEM………….go figure![8>]

Your post reminds me of the saddest thing of all,all those folks who slaved for the Watchtower who expected to have paradise and restored youth by now,and instead of being with fellow witnesses in paradise they are all in Ji-Jirah an old folks home together with their dissapointment.

    Cornish,

Yes….that is truly the reality for most ‘loyal’ dubs.

‘Millions Now Living…….Have The Hope of Ji-Jirah!’
    ‘Choosing the Best Ji-Jirah…..How?’

From what Englishman says, it certainly varies as to what is required fro entry into these homes; perhaps if you donate the sale of your home, that will get you in also.

How are the laws in England? Are they like the laws in the US? In the US you cannot descriminate do to:

    age
    religion
    race

I have seen at least two sites for the US that infringe upon this ideal.........does this infringe upon Brithish ideals?

not sure but worth checking though, residential homes are pretty
big business over here, in order to get their care paid for by the government they have to be below a certain thresh hold for savings etc
(lose their savings) I can see the advantages to being a charitable org will probably open the door to funding,
angh when you said worked/volunteered does that mean......unpaid?
