tenyearsafter I think that is a lnk to the original documentary 4 years ago. He has been back for a follow up and the place is in crisis.

His usual style is to play naive and encourage people to trust him and open up. This time he made no effort to conceal how offensive he found them all to be

Thanks for the heads up cofty...I had to actually protect these crazies when they picketed in our area...one of the drawbacks to being sworn to uphold the Constitution!

This show is fascinating, so I can't wait to see the follow up!

Some very dedicated person has already started uploading it to Youtube.

This is the first part of the follow-up.

All I can say is wow....

There way of life & thinking is sooo like the JW's. The only difference is them teaching hellfire & eternal torment in comparison to JW's teaching death by Armaggedon ...

There religion is immediately blunt about exposing sin to those in the world telling they are to die & go to hell, whereas JW's teach the same but hide it from Jo Public until they are well and truly sucked in & already in fear of Jehovah ! Jw's love to go on about how lovely the new world order will be & its only then when they captured the vulnerables interest do they then put the fear of god within them... overall outcome is the same neither wish to leave the religion out of sheer fear....

Being a fly on the wall to them just shows how bad our JW thinking was. I am feeling really ashamed right now :)

    sleepingbeauty,

I hate to say this, but these guys make JW's seem moderate and reasonable! It was interesting talking to Shirley Phelps...she can turn it on and off like a lightswitch. One second she is pleasant and the next she is rabid!

They remind me of JWs but with absolutely no public relations skills. If a JW said exactly what they really beleived or actually thought through the implications of their beliefs they would be just like this bunch

Watched it last night, and the first visit Louis Theroux did a few years back. I cannot understand how no one has made any successful attempt at a firebombing or at least a drive by shooting. Maybe the US is more peaceful than Hollywood teaches us.

Somehow I don't think they would have been as successful if the grandaddy leader Phelps had set up shop in 1970's Northern Ireland. A quick knee capping may have tempererd his aggression.

As Cofty says though, they are similar to JW's in their belief that everyone else is going to die except them, but no longer have the balls to say it as it is.

Unfortunately, I consider that when all is said and done ALL religious people on this planet are basically the same as Westboro Baptist Church.

''We are right, everyone else is wrong. And thank God, Yahweh, Allah that Hell will prove us right.''

    The nicer religious people add

''We'd love for you to join us: (but if you don't, you're toast).''

What can you say to that?

I watched the first one with my wife. I got the feeling that she was most uncomfortable watching it.

There is a good reason for that - they are strikingly like JW's, albeit more militant.

The Watchtower knows that taking it as far as Westburo does is bad for business. That doesn't mean they hold extremely similar views of the world around us while indoctrinating their children into their gloomy existence.

Westburo and the Watchtower are one and the same, the Watchtower is just smarter.
