I know there are many people on this discussion board who love learning, so I thought I would share this link I received from my undergrad university.

It will take you to a series of lectures at the school that were videotaped, and some look quite interesting. Best of all, you can watch them for free. :)

Here is a random sampling of titles:

The Psychology of Blink: How Our Minds Work Unconsciously

    Addiction and the Mind

    Language and the Brain

Vision and the Brain: Unseen Complexities

Discouraging Gender Stereotypes in Unconventional Careers

Also, many here are interested in emerging health technologies. This sounds fascinating:

Dr. Lee Hood discusses the transition from our current reactive (waiting for illness before visiting a doctor) to proactive, or P4, medicine. P4 medicine is predictive, personalized, preventive and participatory. In 10 years Dr. Hood predicts P4 medicine will dramatically turn the ever escalating costs of medicine around-and indeed rapidly drop the cost of healthcare over the next decade or two to the point it can be exported to the developing world.

Interesting. Do we see a future where everyone has, at young age, a personalized template for supplements, diet, exercise, based on genes and history? OMG - then we could be taxed or subsidized based on our compliance with the recommendations?

As someone who works out like a mad woman and eats properly, I actually would approve this approach.

Cool. I wonder if the WTS would rail against the website. It is, after all, college and a waste of time from the ministry....not to mention bad influences. Blinking, for pete's sake!

Youtube has an entire section of their site dedicated to compliling university lectures.

I also would like to list http://www.khanacademy.org/ for it's amazing suite of teaching tools and lectures. Right now it focuses mainly on math but with some other series on biology, economics, and cosmology. It's a fantastic resource for people that love learning, especially if they need to bone up on some trigonometry or more advanced algebra.

One of the biggest crimes the society commits against it's members is stunting their curiosity by telling them they already have all the answers they need, that academics is a waste of time, and much of it a product of satan. Curiosity sustains us.
