I have learned that there's a difference between giving thanks and praying, dear MS (the greatest of love and peace to you!). In that light, I don't mind folks giving thanks, even out loud (but quietly and discreetly/privately), if that's truly their purpose (to give thanks vs. trying to make others around them think they're "spiritual/faithful/righteous"). The whole "Now, let's hold hands and bow our heads" out loud gives me the willies, though.
As does praying out loud in public. No Bible reader/adherent/believer can justify this, given what "the Bible" states Christ said about praying in public (vs. in private). Members of the Body of Christ know better... because the Holy Spirit brings our Lord's position on this back to their minds and hearts. They realize that, like the Pharisee, such ones are merely praying "to themselves."
