    Wasn't Jesus supposed to have descended from David, through Bath-sheba? It's been so long since I've read anything in the bible.

    Yes, he did, and the Bible doesn't gloss over that fact.

    Yes I know. But I think it is a good (or perhaps clever) example to use. Because if a person brings up Bathsheba, then they just have more ammunition. "Yes, David knew what he should do... but he didn't do it... and look what happened to him, to Bathsheba, to Uriah, to the child born, etc." and then: "You too, if you know what to do and do not do it, could suffer such similar consequences... etc."
