I trusted a brother and friend to sell a vehicle for me while I was out of the country. Cash deal...$1100. He then was supposed to deposit it into my bank account. Never appeared. When I returned he swore he did it...but oddly couldn't find the deposit slip.

All in all...he stole the money. Others just told me, including my father/elder, that I shouldn't get stumbled by our imperfect brothers. Complete BS.

Many years later out of this Org I realized that the most morally bankrupt people I've ever known were JWs.

famous (to me) talk at DC about being stumbled and just laying down and refusing to get up. You cried out" I've have been stumbled" don't you want to get up or are you just going to lay on that floor and let people walk around you? This was so long ago and I'm sure had been repeated many times but I've never forgotten it.

From my experience, anything related to the organization or its people that is even mildly unflattering is ALWAYS a test. A brother/sister exhibiting unchristian qualities? A test. A problem you find with their beliefs? A test. Not wanting to go out in field service? A test. Finding the talks repetitive/boring? A test.

How do you pass these tests? By sucking it up and waiting on Jehovah, of course. Just remember, they're never wrong. The problem's with you.

I hear you, it's like they can walk all over you, rip you off, disrespect you, slander you, whatever. But if you don't bend over and take it like the doormat you're expected to be, then you are not being "Christian". And you were just being "tested".

watersprout, I almost admire their ability to twist and loophole everything so that in any scenerio and outcome, they will always appear right. Evil geniuses.

Poztate - I've done my fair share of drinking because of this kind of crap. I'm sure my liver looks wonderful. I've heard stupid stuff said at conventions like that, joking & otherwise. Unfortunatly, even if it was spoken tongue-in-cheek, you can bet at least half of the JWs will take it as gospel.

Outlaw - it's ironic that you mentioned Bethel, because this guy was at Bethel and told me about some crazy, scandelous things that happened, but again kept writing it off as some type of "test".

yup, Outlaw, I've heard those ones too. I swear I don't know how those young kids who get selected for Bethel don't just one day hope on a bus and head home. I'd last maybe (MAYBE) 72 hours.

Okay, folks. So let me get this straight....

JWs will discuss how the fact that the big bad evil Catholic Church has pedophile cases, excessive corporate holdings, an elite heirarchy and their members don't show "love" to one another is all evidence of how they DON'T have God's spirit.

YET....

If it is brought to their attention as regards the Jehovah's Witness pedophilia charges, excessive WTBS corporate investments, elite treatment of WT "heavies" and JW screwing their own brothers over financially and legally, then it's a TEST from GOD.

Makes perfect sense, this thread can now be closed, now that we've established the logic behind this thinking. Thank you.
