He lives near Raleigh NC so I was a mess untill I head from him. This being the Memorial I didn't want to call but I just couldn't stop thinking if he was OK. So in talking he said "Mom makes it out like you are no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I'm not sure of what to make that (she can say some off the wall things) That was his way of asking but he never came out and asked so I just didn't say anything. Long Long pause and then he said how he was pioneering this month and only doing service, not much else... I said well I'm glad you are OK call some time.. He said I hope you have a good memorial I said you too and got off the phone. Feeling like crap right now. My brother sounds so brain washed?!
My brother just asked is I was one of Jehovah's witnesses

Sorry about that, its the hardest thing about waking up, seeing those still caught in the trap and not realising the predicament they are in.

See, this is what I don't get. When the witnesses talk about their numbers and how many there are worldwide, it's all about those who submit time slips. Not about meeting attendance or those who are out and still hold to the beliefs. It's all about time slips. If you haven't put in a time slip in the past six months, you're not a witness - and that's by THEIR definition, not anyone else's.
Sorry for the uncomfortable conversation with your brother - it's really sad when someone close to you is so trapped.

6 months? I've been out almost 3 years.

After six months you're considered inactive and if you haven't put in a time slip in the calendar year, you're not counted as a witness anywhere. It's an argument that doesn't hold much water at the end of the day - I brought it up in my judicial committee. They were unmoved.

The last time I counted any time was the beginning of 2010. I hope I'm on the "no longer considered a witness" list.

Notice how they never ask if you are a Christian..........
It was by DIVINE providence that Jesus followers were known as Christians not Jehovah's Witnesses...in fact nowhere in the OT are Jesus' followers called that.
(Acts 11:26) . . .It thus came about that for a whole year they gathered together with them in the congregation and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.
And Jesus said to his followers that they would be witnesses of him (Jesus).
(Acts 1:8) but YOU will receive power when the holy spirit arrives upon YOU, and YOU will be witnesses of me both in Jerusalem and in all Ju·de´a and Sa·mar´i·a and to the most distant part of the earth."

Part 2-
So I called my Mom (never JW) and told her the conversation. Turns out a few months ago my uncle died and my Brother and his family went to the funeral. They just went to the grave site being the funeral was in a church. My Mom decided to tell my SIL that she should love and not judge Found Sheep. She said God loves her and she should too. She said she had no right interfearing with a sibling relationship and the fact that we are brother and sister never changes and the love we have never does either. She said at this point the room is quiet and everyone is listening in. My one cousin chimed in that God is love and shunning is NOT love.
They left quickly after that and my SIL deleted my Mom from her facebook and looks like my brother block his WALL from me...
My Mom was afraid I would be upset with her. Not sure her "conversation" helped any but she felt she needed to defend me and I'm OK with that.
