I think the DF policy had become so important to the WTS. is because the the entire organization was developed on a false deceitful premise

notably 1914, the end times doctrine. Knowledgeable and analytical thinking people were not the kind of people the WTS. wants inside their organization.

So an element of protection was established, DFing and labeling them as apostates to the Truth and god's holy earthly arrangement went into effect.

Identifying these ones and putting a muzzle over their mouths, even to an extent claiming they are demonetized, was a work in motion to protect

the organization and its obtained prosperous power structure.

I agree. If what the Watchtower said was true, rather than being a doctrine built on sand - they wouldn't need to resort to radical actions in order to defend it.

Because the critism is valid, they can't risk their followers hearing of it. JW's are therefore constantly reminded to clamp their hands over their ears the second they hear anything that might be taken as critism.
