Love "Man in the Box"
My attraction to Metal was the "live hard, die young" which was exactly what I expected to do, except God hasn't killed me yet.

I just love the overall themes of most metal music. Combined with the poetic way that most of the ideas are presented, along with the amazing instrumentals, makes it my favorite genre of music...
Plus it's just friggin' adrenalizing!!!

Oh, god, I LOVE that song too!
I think metal opens up the mind in a way. When you're in a religion like the JWs, you don't want people knowing your listening to stuff like Rob Zombie and Black Sabbath. Too much "demonism." This, in turn, leads to rationalizations. Rationalizing "sins" requires some thinking and leads to morals and ethics guided by actual common sense versus word of mouth. The Devil's music? Yeah, I guess it is the devil's music if it makes you question religions. Actually...this played a role in me waking up because I couldn't believe all those awesome songs played by awesome people who are also decent in real life (sometimes, anyway) could actually be of Satan. I mean, what's the fundies' reasoning? They talk about Satan? REALLY? They sure as hell (joke intended) like to talk about Satan all the time. Satan's all over the pages of the Bible. Why is it wrong to mention him in songs again? Yeah, so...it personally led me to question things more.
